Who Do The "Job Offer" Ads In Thaivisa Always Sound So Shonky?

Featured Replies

Just curious .. but they do, don't they? Has anyone responded to any of these and can confirm the shonkiness or otherwise of the advertisers? No need to name and shame ... would just be interesting to hear of some actual experiences

The member names of advertisers seem to be created to place a one-off ad and then disappear into the enigmatic ether of the internet ...

How come seasoned Thaivisa members (who are employers) rarely advertise for staff here? Is it because they know the calibre of Thaivisa members and don't want to poison their businesses? Or some other reason?

Not sure what shonky means (a cross between shady and wonky?) but I think that most small ads (aka "business propositions") here sound crooked and devious simply because most farangs here are crooked and devious.

Never ever question the man behind the curtain.

Shonk was a slang word for nose when I grew up on a South London housing estate. Whatever 'shonky' means I haven't a clue but then I had to ask around to find out what a 'hoodie' was. I've been away too long, thank goodness.

I first heard the term, shonky, in Australia almost 20 years ago, if the OP and I are talking the same language, then yes I agree with him.

The expression, boiler room springs to mind with many, usually disguised with phrases such as OTE, generous bonus scheme, unlimited earnings, etc etc, need I go on.

In fact there is at least one there right now, probably best not to reference it.
