Borehole Wind Pump

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can get hold of a windpump set up fo a borehole, something like those you see on cattle stations all around Australia and Africa?

Or maybe a basic design I can get built over here?

Phil. don't know where in Issan you are, but this part you seldom get a breeze. think you would be better to look at solar. Jim

You can find plenty of windpump design on the internet . Google it and look on youtube to find the stuff you are looking for . Use the google translate to convert the terms into Thai language and search in Thailand .

Now , as far as wind energy itself in Thailand , chances are that you will not have enough power to get anything . The advantage is that is cheap and easy to make ( so less stealing ) .

Option 2 is solar , every day available and if you do not need a 1kw pump , it might be a better option . Depending on power needed ( volume/pressure etc ) then a small unit might not be a extremely expensive . Stealing the equipment might be a problem , so you need to make sure that it is secure .

Other options are possible but without knowing the exact volume/pressure etc needed there is not much more to say .

Hello ,

How does it work . Is it just a mechanical pump where you use the force of the wind to turn a wheel that then open and close a cylinder ? There are plenty of hand pumps around that perhaps could be modified to be powered . Sounds like an idea for part of the year with maybe some agricultural aplications .

Good luck in finding the gear .

percussion windmills are easy to convert, in Oss a lot of the blokes in the bush have put on a single cylinder diesel with a pully and belt (old timers wide leather strap) just start the moter for however long to fill the stock water tanks and all done....
