By The Nation

Police yesterday arrested three Britons and six Thai nationals at a house in Nakhon Ratchasima for allegedly running an online sex show that fed footage for broadcast in a UK town.

Ina Radal Davies, a Welshman, said he earned around Bt100,000 each day from running the business for over a year and did not think it was in violation of Thai laws. The two other foreign suspects are Englishmen Mark Sotell and Kieth Goovyer.

He said the Thais, four women and one transvestite - none of them under age - were performing of their own will and were paid Bt1,500 daily, He said he also earned Bt75 per minute of sex chats between the girls and clients, who want to talk apart from watching.

All nine suspects have been charged with distributing pornographic material, and the two Thai men - Kittisak Saetang and Issara Rakwiset - additionally with drug use, after their urine tests proved positive.

British man arrested in Thai porn website bust

Police have arrested a British man and four Thai women for allegedly operating an online pornography ring involving live video feeds from northeastern Thailand.

Police Lt. Col. Phum Tongpho said that authorities, acting on a tip, launched a raid Friday on the residence of Ian Randall Davies, 42, and found broadcasting equipment and the four women dancing topless in front of a webcam along with some onlookers.

Phum said Davies, a native of Wales, was allegedly running a porn website offering live video feeds and phone sex services. He said at least 20 Thai women had worked in shifts at the mansion in Nakhon Ratchasima.

What kind of penalties can this Welshman and two Englishmen expect?

The suspects were charged with violating the Computer Crime Act, carrying a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment, and distributing pornographic media.

I noticed they started blocking these type of web cam sites a while ago and heavily censor others such as camfrog, not a surprise they arrested people for it or that foreigners were involved. They were probably the ones typing the English chat while the dudes back home were jacking off

These kind of sites are pretty lucrative, guys back home pay several dollars per minute to just chat with a naked a chick. They also will give their favorite chicks gifts, it's crazy that these dudes give thousands of dollars to a chick they never even met.

I guess the BIB were not getting their cut or perhaps they were the highway BIB, the ones that don't take a share of motorists wealth. ;)

TIT

Just amazing. Some British scum exploit Thais (sexual exploitation aside, B100,000 a day for them, B1,500 for the women) and are caught, arrested, etc. BUT it's still TIT and bad, bad Thai police.

I suppose if the police were selling mobile phone numbers of murdered children to the press, as they do in UK, that would be more civilized.

I understand selling porn is illegal in Thailand, but is filming or webcam streaming of yourself naked or performing sexual acts illegal? And if they aren't selling it in Thailand but are streaming it overseas and receiving payment from that country- not for individual items of pornography, but for the service of performing the acts, is that different?

I mean, it's not selling it within Thailand, or distributing it locally. It's like if making a drug was legal but selling it was illegal, so you make it and sell it somewhere that it IS legal, does that count? Do they have a separate law to cover sales that occur overseas?

Genuinely curious, not defending them, just wanting to understand the laws being used here.

So why do you guys think they are exploiting Thais running this. the girls were making 1500 baht a day i don't call that exploitation that's a bloody good living in my book for them. Besides they probably were happy to do it and as well. If they were doing this out of a house in the UK you wouldn't say they were exploiting the girls there would you!

Too bad they shut it down one of the girls looks alright i would've taken a peak.

I am not defending the pocile but I have to say that the usual bla bla bla police didn't get their cut is so blazay. Would it be a surprise to you that not all police in Thailand are corrupt? That some if not most have integrity and honor their jobs and their responsibilities. These guys got caught because 1. They are idiots and second the police were tipped off. I know there are many corrupt cops in Thailand but not all. Show some respect eh?

You all should be careful slandering the police force in this country, Generalizations could be seen as Slanderclosedeyes.gif

What? As opposed to giving thousands of dollars to a chick they met twice in a bar in Pattaya?

I thought the Thai police would be busy catching all the drug dealers and drug users now the Yingluck has declared war on them.

Who cares if some girls and a ladyboy are showing their bodies to guys who want to watch and pay.

If they smile a lot and say sorry, sorry, sorry and then pay some: "I am really, really, really so sorry" (money ) on the side, then they won't go to jail. Then they can get back to the business of making money and letting the right police official(s) share in the profits.

I mean, is that not how business is done here in Thailand.

The police love it when they do their job and catch the law breakers and then on the side make a deal to let the business carry on while they get a portion of the lucrative profits.

Why would they actually want to shut it down when shutting it down eliminates the opportunty to make some money from something they probably really do not care about and probably do not want to enforce anyhow, being such a minor offence.

I would think 20 % of the profits should settle the matter.

Well, if those idiots would not have invited "onlookers" as it says in the article, they might never have been caught... there are enough ways to hide the original IP where the stream comes from and they could have continued for years...

But aside them being stupid enough to get caught... by an "anonymous tip"... meaning somebody who did not get paid well enough...

I like the way the Thai deal with mobsters the catch... full picture and names in all newspapers... shaming those crooks and their families... wish we could do the same here with all those drug dealers, rapists, child abusers...
