Man shot three times during break-in at South Pattaya Convenience Store

PATTAYA: -- A suspected thief who broke into a convenience store in South Pattaya was shot and badly injured by the shop owner who caught the man red-handed. Police were called to the store located in Soi Sukhumvit 72, close to the Highway Police Station and were met by Khun Winyar aged 51, the shop owner. He began by confirming possession of his registered firearm which was surrendered to Police along with his gun license. The suspected thief, Khun Tanalat aged 18, had already been taken to Hospital having sustained two gunshot wounds to his back and one to his backside. He did manage to leave on his motorbike but was soon forced to stop and call for help, due to his injuries. Khun Winyar confirmed that he was awoken by noise coming from the shop and went down, with his gun, to investigate. He caught the suspect inside the shop who attempted to leave through a back gate.

Was he supposed to let him get away?

Probably not, but I guess it all depends on whether they or not lock him up for a couple of years for attempted murder.

The burglar will think twice or is that 3 times before breaking in to anyone elses property. Give the shop keeper a medal. Here in the lovely UK if a burglar broke into my home and accidentally tripped on the carpet whilst leaving with my tv, I would be sued for damages!
