Hi,

I'm on a tourist visa extension. The original visa (sticker) is in my old passport however when extending the visa the entry stamp was transferred to the new passport. The immigration officer wrote down the number of the old passport and put it next to the new stamp in the new passport.

Now my old passport is at the motorbike shop and I won't have time to pick it up if I want to leave the country on the same day.

You think that taking only the new one is sufficient?

The old passport is invalid and would not be required to exit Thailand or return (as no valid visa remains in it).

Can I ask a question related to this topic regarding old & new passports.

I have just obtained a new UK passport from Hong Kong mailed to me. In my old passport my non immigration visa has now expired but I did a border run

before it expired and have a 'admitted till 20th Nov 2011' stamp in it.

I assume when I leave to renew the Visa in November I will need to show both passports and an exit stamp will be placed in the new passport

and the departure card will have to filled out with the new passport details?

Thanks for the anticipated assistance.

Yes that seems to be how they work it now for those on visa entry - for those on extensions of stay believe they still want you to transfer the information at Immigration prior to leaving.
