Satellite Tv Outage Due To Sun Fade

Featured Replies

As FYI, for the next week or so when viewing Thaicom5 satellite TV transmissions like C-band transmissions and TrueVisions KU band transmissions, you may/will lose your signal for around 10-15 minutes from around 1:45pm to 2:00pm since the sun is directly behind/lined up with the satellite and your receiving dish....basically, the sun overwhelms the signal from the satellite....the dish can no longer pickout the signal from the satellite with the sun focusing all its energy/noise directly at the dish..

Use can use the calculator at this Link to more closely calculate the specific time period when you may lose your signal depending on your location, dish size (0.75m for TrueVisions KU band dish), and even pick a satellite other than Thaicom5 at 78.5 East.

Thought I would post this since I was scratching my head for a few seconds about 15 minutes ago as to why my C band TV reception on all my C band set top boxes said "No Signal."
