Pension schemes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wondering what the long term expats in Thailand do about pension schemes assuming they dont top up any former country's national pension scheme.

Do you even make enough to contribute to a pension scheme?

Thanks

Generally only the multinationals and large Thai companies offer a pension plan, except social security which is relatively new here.  But if someone has to be dependent on a local pension plan, they had better hope that the company does not fail as elsewhere.  And they had better save a lot because you can't depend on much of anything.  Much safer to have a number of sources of income, both internal and external, just in case one or more collapse.
