Pattaya leaves dangerous U-turns open; opts for better signs, enforcement

PATTAYA: -- Pattaya officials have decided to leave open three dangerous area U-turns, arguing that stricter traffic control is a better solution than inconveniencing drivers.

Sunthorn Ratanawaraha, Pattaya’s permanent secretary, presided over the meeting with area police and traffic and engineering bureaucrats Sept. 20 at Pattaya City Hall to consider closing Sukhumvit Road U-turn points in front of Underwater World, the Pattaya Floating Market and in Naklua.

Stricter traffic control? I'd be happy to see any. None at all now. The floating market area is a really bad place to drive through...either direction.

Anyone driving South past the floating market should be very careful indeed, the double and sometimes triple parked buses outside the market drive straight across the road to the U turn, Its a case of I am bigger than you and you must stop. One day there will be an awful lot of people killed there.

The area from tesco to the floating market is a joke, no control at all, that one in front of underwater world has taken a few lives!! Just watch the drivers flying through the traffic lights at the wat boon lights - outside school number 7, crazy !!!!

Oh, and those little silver mini vans are by far the worst offenders!!!!
