Dag
What is the best way to preserve very old photos. I have a pile of old family photos that range in age from a few decades to some of the oldest that as far as i can work out, seem to be mid 1800's. Some in good condition, many already have some damage, but want to keep them forever to give to my kids. I have had them here in Thailand for many years now, so tropical conditions have not cause any problems so far....but I wish to make sure it never does.....we do get a bit of mould around at times, this year noticed moreso than before. Tywais
A useful site > Preserving photos And of course, scan them for a safety backup for the future.
astral
Scan and store in multiple media. Thailand has a pretty agressive climate. Time has shown us that CD and DVD are not as stable as was once predicted. I keep two copies on hard drives and upgrade the disks from time to time. Dag
I want the originals preserved...same same on digital media is not the same as an old time photo in your hand. Of course I am saving them digitally, but want the originals preserved.
