November 10, 200520 yr I'm planning on sending my notebook to the Compaq guy here so he can wipe the dics and re-install everything, as it's really starting to crawl now. I have alot of music and video of family that I would like to store somewhere before he has it. I know I can use 4.7gb discs but, I will need quite a few and i don't think the laptop could handle all the copying at the moment. I was told that there is a data transfer cable for me to use, to transfer to my PC that I have. Are these available in places like Tesco Lotus, and thai computer shops? I'm in samui, so I'm quite limited. What is the proper name for these leads, and can anyone advise me how to transfer the data when the computers are connected. Thanks for your help with my questions Noodles

November 11, 200520 yr If both your PCs have network connectors you can make a simple 2 computer network with a 'crossed' network cable. Your local man should have them in stock (or make one up quickly). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
November 11, 200520 yr another nice solution, more expensive but very comfortable for all backup purposes is a USB Harddisk. I connect it to our computers every friday before I leave and copy the important material on it. A very good solution. I wonder how many TV members do back up their disks on a regular basis?
