Bang Khen District - Where Is It? Please Help...Confused!

O.K I could really use some advice here. I'm very confused and my hours of research do not seem to be helping me. I live in Nonthaburi and we are dry and the sun is shining. I live off of Krungtep-Non rd. soi 3 between the 2 big C's (at Wong Sawang & Tiwanon) we are about 2 kilometers from the Nonthaburi pier (Thanam Non) my official address in Bang Khen.... so I assumed we were one of the seven districts under flood warning. But now today I see there are actually two "Bang Khen's" on the map. One much closer to Don Mueang. So the big question is .....Am I in the Bang Khen district under warning??? or not???? do you think I should be packing it up and getting the hell out of here or are we safe here for now. Not enough canned food left in the local markets here to make it and our fresh supply will only last so long... no canned goods @ 7-11 and can't trust that the local water re-fill station is going to keep working.

Last question is ....most of my work here is at Chattujak market... do people think it will go under water and if so how long will it be affected. Trying to decide if i should head for Chiang Mai.

Tiwanon is Muang Nonthaburi

Wongsawang is actually Bang Sue district.

Bang Khen runs between the two and upto Vibhavadi Rangsit.

As someone has suggested the high tide is due around the 27th and 28th of this month, the water if it comes will be with us for some considerable time

Beano~ I really appreciate your clarification. My address being Krungtep-non rd. soi 3 t. bangken a. muang, nonthaburi is very confusing as when I google my address on goodle maps it very cleary says... Bang Khen. Today looking closely saw the other Bang Khen near to Don Muang and figured that was the one under current threat. So for now I will relax a bit... until I hear otherwise. Thank you again for your help :.)

You are in Tumbol Bangkhen, Amphur Muang of Nonthaburi Province. The warnings in the news are for Bangkhen district of Bangkok. As you suspect, they are too different places.

I wouldn't relax too much though as where you live is still very near the river.

Thank you Deke...great info. Been here 7 years and I've never called it Bang Khen except when writing my address out in full as T. Bangken. I always just say Nonthaburi, Wong Sawang. We are really close to Thanam Non...was down there yesterday and it's quite the scene of preparation and prevention. As I type right now it's raining so hard here I can't hear the TV so we will definitely be keeping our guard way up but just not moving upstairs quite yet. I wish there was more supplies available in the area though...I just flew in from San Francisco on Monday night into this and didn't have a chance to stock up in time :.( Did manage to get one of the last bags of rice at 7-11 yesterday on Krungtep-non... tuna and almost anything canned sold out. But as of today the food trucks are still coming by so we just keep buying what we can. I am a bit worried about the water supply and trying to figure out what bleach to buy. Wondering if the kind at seven-11 is o.k? Big C Tiwanon was really picked over yesterday too... I hope you are safe and dry and thank you for your help. I just love Thai Visa... it has saved my ass many many times now. so appreciated!

Another way of looking at it is that you go straight up Highway 1 (i.e.Phaholyothin Road) heading northwards from Victory Monument, past Chatuchak Market, past Central Ladphrao, past Kasetsart University, and when you reach Bangkhen roundabout with the tunnel and flyover and everything - well, it's pretty hard to miss and you've just covered the first 10 km. of Highway 1, from the Bangkok end anyway.

BTW heading to Chiengmai for the next month would be a no-brainer IMO.

Time to save your own ass and get out of the way.
