Anyone know if the Honda CRF range is available here, and if so, which dealers? (Bangkok or Nakhon Sawan)

I want something for a nine year old, but don't want the Chinese crud they sell in the markets.

The only other option is a KSR, but it's going to be too big and a little too much power for a nine year old.

Ideally the CRF 70. (The CRF 80 is a better bike, but the seat height is almost the same as the KSR.)

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Just noticed ther's a KLX 110 on the Kawa web site, might make a call to Rama 9 to see if it's avaliable anywhere.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Cheers.

I know it's not the style your looking for, but a good used Honda Chally (spelling) is about as bullet proof as you can get for a first time rider. My kid has a 100cc and is just right for a kid your age to start on. Kick start withpost-62503-0-91882600-1319278433_thumb.j a 4 speed. It's pictured on the left.

it should be possible to get the kawasaki 110cc and get it tuned it down a bit so the power is more managable

from what i understand you can change the sprockets to give an extra tooth on the front and remove 2 teeth on the back to make it accelerate slowly

also you could probably restrict the carb /intake so it has less horse power

both of these ideas would leave the option to increase the power after a year or two when the kid can handle the limited power well you can change the original sprockets back on ,and when he gets used to that you can unrestrict the carb and give him acess to all the power :)

Thanks all.

Looked at both the KLX110 and the KSR at Real Motosport Kawasaki on Ramkhamaeng yesterday, and I think the KSR is the better option. There is plenty of meat in the seat, so it can be lowered a bit for now. Being road going is a benefit for later, but the mini/motard style looks reasonable for dirt farm roads/light off road, which would be the main use right now. It's mini enough for a kid to ride, but built solidly enough for an adult to ride as well, so maximum utility.

Only problem is that they are out of stock till the new model arrives. I hate waiting for anything!

Cheers.

KSR is a good choice. I use one when I go up country on all the dirt roads and its great fun. They handle potholes really well too. Make sure its well locked up though, as the local teenagers like them alot and you wouldn't want it to disappear.
