New elections as soon as the 111's ban-time has expired.

Do you really think they'd go to the people so soon after this debacle? Even with the 111, they'd be slaughtered.

They might have to reconsider if 100,000+ people fall seriously ill due to the flood-mismanagement. But that would be reactive adjustment, not pro-active.

So until that happens, they will follow the plan.

Was this why they refused the US navy? Politics with peoples lives. Criminal!

Maybe US wanted to help for free. No corruption of free help.

But if everything is destroyed you can sack in a 30 % on every order for repair work...

Foodlover: You really don't have any idea about economics and politics.

Zactly ! destruction and recovery is the best business - do it right (meaning do it in a very confused way, especially the accounting) and rob the treasury. The Americans aren't the only ones who can do it on a monster scale ! Remember, Thaksin was educated in Texas !

Kwanchai: Thaksin buys pumps from Korea for govt to mitigate flooding

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has ordered pumps from Korea for the government of his sister, Yingluck Shinwatra, to use for draining floodwaters, a red-shirt leader said.

INN news agency Tuesday quoted Kwanchai Priaphana, the chairman of Udon Thani Loving Club, as saying that Thaksin had ordered many pumps and they should be delivered to Thailand by Wednesday.

China to send 170 water pumps to help Thailand

October 20, 2011 9:05 am

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao said Thursday that his government will send a total of 170 heavy pumps to help Thailand solve floods crisis.

He offered the assistance to Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt NaRanong during his threeday trip to China until this weekend.

Wen said the first lot of 150 pumps with the capacity of 78 tonnes per hour each will arrive Thailand by Friday afternoon and the remainders are preparing with bigger capacity of 200 tonnes will be delivered later.

The Nation

Have any of these pumps arrived yet or was this just more misinformation, to put it nicely.

With so many threads and so much information, I may have overlooked it, but I cannot seem to find that the Thaksin pumps arrived last week as stated by Khwanchai. The China pumps?

Thanks

The massive amount includes Bt100 billion for the recovery of inundated industrial estates

...

The first stage, to be implemented within a year, will see the full recovery of flood-hit industrial estates, he said.

Some 140 pumps have been imported and would arrive at seven key industrial estates in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani in the next 20 days to drain floodwater.

South Korean pumps I assume.

Thai Govt Will Seek To Spend Bt900 Billion On Flood Recovery

Haven't seen anything published about their arrival, which, given the fanfare of the announcement regarding their alleged purchase, is surprising, if they had arrived.

Speculation here suggests he might plan to bring the pumps with him when he arrives in Thailand next month:

Maybe the pumps are at Laem Chabang port but cannot be released due to Customs department wanting large tea money

Get a thousand powerful pumps --whats the difference they will need to join 50 kilometers if flexi pipes to take it to the gulf??? or where are they going to pump it to ??? maybe pump it back up country ???

You miss the whole point of the (non-existant) pumps.

It is an easy soundbite that will be repeated on red tv to the upcountry folk. This enhances the Thaksin brand as most people now realise that not only did the good Dr pay from his own pocket to build all roads in Isaan, pay off the IMF loan, buy ipstar satellites for all Burmese sheds, pay for CTX bomb scanners, rid Thailand of all drugs, solve Bkk traffic problem, eliminate all corruption apart from his own which was deemed "normal", warn muslims of the dangers of combining ramadan and 10 wheel trucks, but he also bought some lovely pumps for the flood victims.

I hope this great man returns in December. Where would we all be without him. I guess we should spare a thought for the bonded slaves in Uganda's blood diamond mines. They will surely miss him.

And that's the very scary part. I believe the red villages (and jatuporn hasn't been seen for weeks and the speculation is that he's stirring up the red villages) would still believe all of the above and would probably believe the story that the floods are all deliberate work / results of either the army or abhisit or both.

What a load of unsubstantiated old cockwash.

You haven't got a clue what Jatuporn is doing have you? You must miss him and be gutted that you've not got any Nation articles about him to rip into. Oh well, let's fall back on a bit of unbridled speculation in the meantime just to keep ourselves occupied then, shall we?

'Stirring up the red villages'....oooohhhhh! sounds sinister - a promise of red violence at some point to really rip into. Yum Yum! I'm sorry you are scared (or want others to be), but if you're just going to make things up, why not make up things which won't scare yourself or others?

And if you're not making things up, let's hear more about this 'speculation', doubtless based on someone seeing him in a red shirt village at some point in the past. Ergo, he's planning violent insurrection nationwide.

Honestly, you and your hysterical red/Thaksin/PTP bashing colleagues (who give a bad name to the more balanced anti-gov/PTP/Thaksin posters) have the same shrill, belligerent, paranoid, divisive tone as someone else we all know. Been taking lessons from Jatuporn?

'There's gonna be a coup!', says Jatuporn. 'There's gonna be red violence!', says you.

Jatuporn is everyday on red tv together with the other stooge Nathawut spouting his wisdom.

If Thaksin comes back will we see the anti Thaksin TV members set themselves on fire as a protest, or will they just carry on making meaningless posts on an anonymous internet forum ?

Like your good-self is doing ?

With the flood emergency, the prioritisation of Thaksin's return looks more and more ridiculous. This upsets the forum red apologists who have big trouble reconciling their dreams of Thaksin coming back while at the same time having to continue proclaiming that 'its not about Thaksin'. The upset always pops up with the phrase 'Thaksin haters' or variation thereof (eg 'Thaksin bashers'). As for Jatuporn its not rocket science working out what he is up to. Plenty of form there. Or maybe he's found religion. Never mind, there is always the chance that this leader of Thaksin's thug tendency has taken a day off. Oh yes.
