We met and married within 9 months (time period NOT significant :D) ).

Since we've been married for 16 years I guess that just goes to show that it doesn't always matter how long you've known the person. :o

Met for the first time in April 3 days before i flew back to the U.K. Kept in touch by email, decided when i came back to the U.K i wanted to travel round Thailand properly, so told my wife i was coming back in July and did she want to come travelling with me.

Got back in July spent 3 weeks together then ended up getting married. That was 4 1/2 years ago. :o So i guess it was love at first sight :D

About a year for us. We decided to get married when my wife was on an extended holiday with me in Sydney. Why was it extended, I told her to quit her job and stay with me and enjoy the full holiday.

We wanted to plan the wedding party, and after reading this website, we decided to go to the Ampour first, and register the marraige, as we both knew I had to go back for a month of work. Then I came back and we had a really nice village wedding. I was at that point having no plans to return home.

And we lived happliy ever after :o

Woah meemiathai, hold on their buddy. Are you joking?
1year and 3 months after talking for the first time - what option above do I choose? ^^

That would be 1 3/12 = 1.25 year. I round that down to one year. Your choice would be 1 year in the poll

Sorry, I "mai kau jai"? Are you as "mau" as I am?

Why are you learning mandarin? Just curious. :o

I have to take a language course as part of my major. I choose Mandarin because if I stay in the states I will teach Asian history, as well as I want to read the classics in Mandarin, plus it will help me learn other Asian languages and last but not least if we move to Thailand it will be one more language I can speak to help me get around Asia. I am learning Thai as well, I find Mandarin much easier BTW.

It has fewer tones. However I am also speaking about the written part of the language. All the things that go around Thai letters make it somewhat difficult. I am able to produce the sounds in Mandarin much easier than in Thai.
