:D take a bow RDN! :D:o

RDN must have hacked into the site. We are investigating this for sure.

Speaking of the whole Internet addiction lark, years ago I got my next door neighbour online. My neighbours were a typical family setup - early 30's husband and wife and two kids. Relatively simple task to do, but this was back in 1998 and they wanted somebody to show them the basics, claiming that they'd only use it for around 10 minutes a day.

Around 6 months later-ish we heard that the wife had buggered off, leaving the husband alone with the two kids. Turns out that the wife had actually met some 50 year old guy online and decided that he was a better fit for her than her husband (for whatever reason). The roughest part of it all was hearing next door's kids crying out for their Mum with only their Dad to try and calm them down.

Well they did get back together in the end, but not before selling up the house and moving elsewhere. Combined with no doubt a huge emotional cost for the family, they spent thousands on decorating that house. We highly doubted they got any of it back when selling up.

Can't help but feel a bit guilty about getting them online after it all, but I guess if it wasn't me it'd be somebody else regardless. Alarm bells sometimes go off now about when I hear about people using chat rooms and forums obsessively...

Apologies about lowering the mood of the thread.

Well darn, Insight.  :o

What a bummer!

I'm ready to chuck my machine right out the window! :D

but your are in "The Bedloom :D " with all of us :D

when you find yourself morbidly reading threads that make you feel like vomiting, but you just can't stop.

Threads involving giggling school girls forming harems with a myth living on the other side of the planet, imbecillic teenage Canadian construction workers blundering their way through Thailand on holiday and pretentious, conceited would be Hemingways who turn lunch, mosquito wipes and a street pickup into a 2000 word tome. :D:D:o

Scampy? :o:D

Believe it or not, but internet board addictions is a real problem.

In one giant board (5000 members online at anytime of the day) where I used to post, there were a lot of trolling and real life dramas. A few anonymous members met and got married. One flew to London from the US just to meet one poster. Some would throw parties and pay for tickets.

Some committed suicide because of their addiction and poor social skills, posting about it only a few days before. Some have been stalked in RL by a few online nutters. Many lost their wife, jobs and friends over their online addiction, often confusing their troll personalities with their RL personalities.

Don't think this can't happen because it does.

Sounds like a real "Been There, Done That" story! :o

I suppose its as good an excuse as any, that the Butterfly is a Belgian Board Burnout,

:D

Better than being an old fart dreaming of retiring in Pattaya someday.
