I wish the Thai goverment had a channel on television with update news about ride available roads in Thailand.

Instead of trying to call a always busy highway police,it is a wish and maybe one day??

Okay if somebody out there has some info to drive a car from Khon Kaen to Surat Thanee between 10/11/11-12/11/11

I like to now,as far I now it is maybe not possible.

Thanks

I just had to drive KK to Pattaya and then to Chiang Mai.

Stay as far away from BKK as you can.

Traffic is a mess and roads that are open very crowded.

trip took 3 times as long as it should have taken.

supplies are in short suppy along the way. Fuel lines and 7-11 and other places empty of many products

Detour sings only in Thai and no help to be found

If you can wait a month better,

there is a number 1158 or was it 1138 that is traffic info but mostly in Thai so have a friend call and the information is not most up to date.

I was down in BKK a month ago and things are much worse not better.

They have opened a few main roads only to drive on 20 km and find the water 60 cm deep and my truck in the middle of it

Good luck and be safe

1.start with using the proper names yourself; KnKn is Isan=North EAST-not north (I am now ChMai-this is north).

2.there ARE-in Thai, let the wife help- regular updates on what roads are open-but not on how bad-or not traffic is. Have seen them myself on a special Thai channel in Khorat 2-3 days ago, like PBS-channel. Maybe its local, maybe it is not on your UBC.do NOT rely on weeks old sensational reports from this site either-bad days keep on repeating as if it stays on for weeks.

3.failing that-let dear wife call the busstation and explain what routes BKK-bound buses take and how much time extra-and if there are any buses bypassing BKK (there WERE from KHorat-like to HuaHin and even Phuket).

4.use cool logic and do not panick-TV users always scold the Thai for that, so show you can do better

Thanks Jeffrey for replay,I will try tomorrow 09/11 to go from kk to 1) saraburi 2) kanchanaburi 3)samui?

I cant wait 1 month because my son need to go school. I will fill up the car with food and water and will give it a try.

I plan not to take any risk so if I see flooding more than 40cm I told the family we return back to KK.

As soon as I make it (if we do) I will let TV now.
