Moving A Sole Proprietorship Business To Thailand Online Business: Moving It To Thailand Possible? - Question

Featured Replies

Was stated by a sunbelt advisor in a separate thread that sole proprietors from the US in Thailand (assuming we're talking Amity treaty companies) can't "usually" get work permits.

Why is this exactly? Doesn't that violate the Amity treaty?

An American can own a sole proprietorship under the Amity Treaty. The Treaty does not say anything about being able to work in the business but allows the right of ownership. The Labor Department is not governed by the Amity treaty so is not required to issue work permits to sole proprietorships.
