Removal Of Don Muang Airport Big Bag Barriers Draws Condemnation

The rights and wrongs are not for me but opening the sandbags has an impact on other people

But keeping that has an impact to others (who already got too much, ans still getting daily)

who should have.a chance to prepare.

4 months passed now for the whole soap water opera.

1 month for those on the wet side. Include me.

If they not prepared YET - then they deserve this. Im sorry, but ANYTHING to move this wet shit from my house!!! :annoyed:

They are STILL not prepared...how pathetic. Im going to cry to the cameras.

FYI, those on dry areas not preparing at all - they are playing LoiKratong for example. They simply don't care this all.

Take a glass, start drinking the water away.

If you have no compassion for others, you deserve none yourself.

I've been following pretty much all of the pertinent Twitter news on the floods... Looking over the past hour so far, I just see mention about part of the Big Bag barrier being dismantled, one section... and posts about the PM supposedly saying it wasn't done under FROC's orders...

Nothing about any big kind of water release suddenly threatening new areas...at least not that I'm seeing as yet.

And also about the arrest of the guy who punched Karun, with the former saying he acted out of anger after waves from Karun's jetski capsized his boat.

And other:

@Diaw_NBC: MP Karun has allegedly told protesters he would lead move to dismantle big bags himself if nothing's done tmrrw. #ch3

tulsathit Govt has denied it agreed to remove Don Muang big bags. (MP Karun Hosakul had said he represented FROC in reaching deal with protesters)

From what I'm reading, FROC this evening came out to publicly deny earlier reports that it had agreed to remove some of the bags by 6pm today to make a 30 meter opening. That followed protests by residents from more than 20 communities in Don Muang district.

@Neaw_NBC: 5.25 pm. FROC confident Victory Monument won't b flooded. All roads in Bkk to b usable in 7-10 days. #smsMCOT

I can understand him, he has been flooded for a month. Much deeper as i am no electricity nothing. So cut the guy some slack. Thing is everyone knows water is coming and if you still did not prepare then something is wrong.

Its not like opening this barrier is going to flood other area's instantly it will go slow like it has always gone.

Its easy for people who are high and dry make comments on others who are wet and stressed out. I know that i had it pretty bad a few weeks ago with water rising flooding my house not knowing when it would stop. Only to hear we should take it for BKK. While i was saying BKK should take as much water as they can.

How opinions change as more people get affected all the time. I can understand people wanting to stay dry but 20cm of water in the streets wont stop bkk it will still go on just like it does here. But once you get more then a meter things stop.

When you look and see how much the Govt is going to compensate the factories etc, it really appears that they care little about the people.

No-no, no any double standarts here. We have The True, The Reddest possible democracy here, haven't we?? Everyone will get rich soon!

And....this won't affect tourism after all - shopping centers still open. Just be patient, try to keep your Burberies dry, avoid crocodiles and queue your stand for FREE 5000 (if you lucky to be among "qualified").... :whistling:

So very true and so very sad!

Will a million of my compassions move the water out of the area which is flooded? No.

Then I prefer not to waste my time to that. Im sorry, but I am sick with those high words daily - and the water is still here.

I have no temper, no compassions and no trusts to any words left. I just want this all over, regardless the price.

Are you not prepared yet? I am sorry for you and that's all I have to say. Please cry to those in charge, but not to me - Im helpless here.

Now, let's start to move water out.

See if you can follow this account of what supposedly was happening out there:

The protests from local residents first led authorities to allow a two meter gap in the barrier to release water. The gap was later widened to six meters.

But yesterday the gap was sealed. Then later, local residents returned and tried to open the gap back to six meters again as police and soldiers looked on.

If you think flooding out the non hi-so areas south of DM will make it better for you guys up there, then you are delusional. It will however make sure a lot more people have no ability to make a living. And some of the help-work we now do far north will be done closer to the center of the city.

I live far to the north away from the floods, but I have the greatest sympathy with the flooded people of Nonthaburi and around.

Those who object to the tearing down of the Big Bag barrier should ask themselves whether it is Inner Bangkok or the flooded industrial estates of Ayutthaya, Lopburi and elsewhere that really support the Thai economy. Silom produces little but banking and bonuses, much like Wall Street and The City.

If I were in Nonthaburi I would not be prepared to spend a month in dirty, stagnant water up to my waist or higher for the business elite of Silom and Inner Bangkok. And don't tell me the authorities are saving Inner Bangkok for the slum dwellers and impoverished masses that live on the edges of Fat Cat City.

If I were a Nonthaburi Thai, I would be tearing down the Big Bag barrier too. Good luck to them. At least we know that when push comes to shove PTT is just as "amart" as the Democrats!

And you have compassion for people who stand a chance of getting flooded out and refuse to do any thing to prepare for it.

You expect people who have all ready been flooded out with no relief in sight from the government to feel compassion for the idiots who don't prepare as best they can.

In my opinion your compassion is misplaced.

It is just a smart plan of those wise guys from FROC. We all are well protected now - right as promised.

Just be patient - within 1 month everything will be over...See attached.

Autthaya: No FROC there, no bigbagbarrier there. 1 month, water gone by itself.

BanBuaThong: No FROC there, no bigbagbarrier there. 1 month, water gone by itself.

Pathumthani: No FROC there, no bigbagbarrier there. 1 month already, water receding by itself.

Bkk: FROC here, bigbarrier here, orean pumps here. Will be dry before New Year, as promised...

The question is: what is the purpose of having FROCs, barriers, pumps and a whole bunch of those incompetent clowns?

Alexakap,

Bang Bua Thong, that is where i am (Bang yai) all close together. The water is gone from my house but there is still a lot of water. Thank god i never got it so bad as you.

You don't have power, you have to swim to get supplies. Your house is much more damaged as mine. I really understand your frustration.

Then a dam that protects others but keeps the water at your and other places is build. I would not like that either. Every area is making progress but those areas flooded in front of the wall are not.

I didn't say "FLOOD THOSE HI-SO!"

I said "Move water outta here".

Feel the difference.

If those in charge decide to flood hi-so's - so be it.

If they decide just to pump out the small waterchannels here (pumps still here, but noone to operate them) - then so be it.

I pay my taxes to let them manage the things, and make right decisions. But...the thing is that NOONE doing ANYTHING. Water just stays on its own. Is it a wise plan to keep it until it "patiently" evaporated? Of course it will....sooner or later.....

Have the bags been removed? Who has (will)? order the removal?

Have they done this already? Anything to get the water out of my area, great!

Yeah Lets share the Pain, and destroy more lives and properties

Noooo. Let's someone keep getting your fate just to keep your arse comfortable dry - and without the chance of ANY compensation...this is what you saying.

Ok, I;ll hold your part of water. Will you come after, and repair my house from your own pocket money? What? No?

I am 100% Silom wont notice this until a few weeks has passed. Water travels here real slow. So you got plenty of time to prepare (if it even hits Silom)
