What a GREAT day! My first one and completely unexpected.....had a brilliant time.

I have to say the quality of the entertainment was top notch. Soi Dogs are as fine a blues band as you will find and the rock band after them were fantastic as both entertainers and musicians. Didn't catch their name though, maybe I wasn't listening or trying to get another beer. The announcer said Soi Dogs play at Tokyo Joes but didnt tell us where we could see the rock band...anyone know who they were and if they play anywhere?

Both bands many notches above the typical crap bar bands you find in Bangkok and I would LOVE to go out and hear more decent music.........my crappy Stratocaster bedroom playing doesnt compare

gkinbkk - Hi this is Steve from the Wildside band that played yesterday at PF... keyboard player...we've been hiding out for 7 weeks as the bass player lives in Bang Yai and couldn't get into town.. his house didn't flood but the roads all around were high and he could drive just since friday

However - we were trying to get into some bars around town but a gig has come up at the Imperial Queen Sirakit hotel in the Sundowner Lounge on the main floor ... every thursday, friday and saturday night but starting Dec. 9th... friday

glad you liked the band... we are going to be doing some classic rock and new tunes as well

Excellent news Steve. I have been hoping to find a club offering a regular schedule with a good classic rock house band. I was a regular almost every Thursday night at Jeff Healy's club in Toronto until he passed. yes - you bet - no bands for a few years but the Hotel is going after biz.....a rooftop DJ every saturday nite with a huge sound and light show.... so they are starting to go after biz..... am happy chris the drummer is the old Wa Wa Nee drummer from oz in the 80's ..but our singer is also out of retirement as well.. we just want to play some good classic tunes and now are doing some new stuff as well

so come on over and check it out - the hotel wants long term customers and they want us to get it started with the revamped Sundowner Lounge so it is all happening right now.....

will send links after my 72 hour wait period with thai visa

steve

Steve, do you mean Imperial Queens Park?

Interesting. About the last place I would have guessed to find a decent band!

hey thanks - you made my day as well - house in Rangsit in the Whitehouse Moobahn flooded 2 meters on Oct 20th - still waist high as of this week - then went up the company compound at Klong 4 and the wall broke thru oct 23 now on Sisaman rd next to the other company which I work at.... aarrgghh but c'est la vie... didn't lose everything like some have... like my wife's folks at Klong 1 ... they have been there 30 years and never had the water this high.... waist high in their house at klong one over the klong.....so have the house cleaning coming next month in january I think

... jeez .. anyway - saved the keyboard and rack and computer among other stuff ... but what a last 6 weeks 3 guys live in town no problem but me and the bass player ... but hey have a one room apartment and work is open so just have to plan the house clean up

working on new tunes for the hotel gig.... we want to really blow out the old lounge and we play new years on the roof top..... have been here 11 years and playing around a bit - played at teh old and new tokyo joes and Noreiga's and Nomad's bar on silom soi 4.... played at the saxaphone pub on new years in 2002 with Dang from the soi dogs with Garn the thai janis joplin so I can at least say I have played around town.. Ad here, Irish X change, etc.... we hope to put out a good show ... Kevin the singer sang at Radio City for 10 years and Chris Sweeney on drums welll.. in the 80's he was Wa Wa Nee's drummer in Oz.... so we happened to have slapped together a tight little falung band with full paperwork at the hotel.... Greg on guitar is ex oz and NZ and played a lot in Singapore the last few years but we are all here now Ric on bass is from Italy.... but we got together last December and wanted to have some fun.... played a few places around town but now got the gig at teh hotel

hope you can make it over to soi 22 to the IQSH - we start dec 9 th friday and are contracted for every thurs fri and sat night for 6 months - plus new years eve on the roof... wow... awesome on the roof now......

Yep, starting next week up on the roof (not Sundowners) of The IQP as its beer garden season in Bangkok so what better place to put a beer garden with live music than up there?!
