Maybe she saw a thread like this one with an endless, meaningless, argument making up the bulk of the posts and was compelled to jump

only with witnesses which there maybe or maybe not.....a lot of that can of course be bought....this is Thailand after all..when did anybody ever expect to get the WHOLE truth...I'm betting if she survives she'll never work again and will live a life of luxury at GUESS WHO'S expense.....

If she survives and says she was pushed or thrown then I believe it will only be about compensation and not a criminal matter unless the boyfriend doesn't pay up. Nothing to do with nationality of victim and accused but simply the way things are handled if the4 accused has money..

she wouldn't get one red cent out of me if I'd done nothing wrong even if she did manage to get some witnesses to say I had. You can't get blood from a stone and I'm hard as rock.....

Then the "rock" would rot in a Thai jail

maybe so...but I have my principles..or at least I do this side of the bars.......

LOL! I'd visit the 'rock' and throw it some peanuts. Now if only we could replace the word hard with thick.

Nice to see that you've NOT managed to misquote somebody.....are you learning from your mistakes?....

Notice that I don't reduce myself to your level of being rude, even if you do try and hid it. A sure fired way of getting a ban.....

Nisa said that because there is a witness who saw her jump. Which makes me right and you wrong. You just wont admit it and it's starting to make you look foolish.

Give me the post # as I can't find it by searching......it most certainly isn't post 104 which you previously said it was.

I am fully prepared to say if I'm wrong but you have yet to prove it.....I want an exact quote of nisa's with post numbers that says "somebody saw her jump" and/or "because there is a witness who saw her jump"

waiting for more than just idle words in somebody's mouth...... if you are so sure QUOTE IT with references......

I already did. Are you blind???? Or just wrong? Both me thinks.

Sorry but you haven't .... you have only mentioned post #104 and in that post nisa DID NOT say there was a witness........you'll have to be more specific than you have been so far....which of course you can't be because it just ain't there.......

The ball is in your court.....quote a nisa post that confirms what you are saying nisa said......no quote no post number...you loose.....

I most definitely have already. And what do you mean I am loose? How would you know if I am loose or not. That's a rather personal statement. One I very much doubt you would be able to prove.

Can't jump (excuse the pun) to conclusions. The full story must be heard before judgements can be made.

Although I will be very surprised if she actually did jump by choice. I doubt it, unless she was out of her brain on drugs or something ..... but I wonder if he was/is "in shock" because she's survived !??

it was a vitness on other side that saw she jump. so why hold the guy then ???

Would you prefer I threw you some salted or unsalted peanuts while you rot in jail?

Ask nisa. She seems to have all the answers.

LOL - no doubt a few weeks (days or hours) in a Thai jail can certainly change ones principles.

Well said. I doubt the rock would last more than 30 mins before he turned to sand and was screaming to be released.

But as I read there are eyewitnesses right, who saw that she jumped herself?

You might want to read again. If somebody saw her jump herself there would be no reason to detain and examine the boyfriend.

witnesses on the opposite side of the hotel saw the moment Ms. Ratchanu jumped off, hit a branch of a coconut tree before hitting ground. This probably saved her life.

You might want to read again. Try the whole story this time?

Where does it say she jumped herself? If you read the story it appears clear there is question as to if she jumped herself and further insight will see they use the word jump throughout the story when they should be using the word fall/fell in many cases. Have you not read enough Thai English newspapers to know they wording & grammar are not accurate many times?

:bah::cheesy::cheesy:

You are totally unbelievable

After re-reading the story it appears this is absolute sh@t reporting or the police are convinced it was a suicide and are simply being thorough in their investigation to avoid any accusations of bribes and what not later. Maybe the guy did see her actually jump (The witnesses on the opposite side of the hotel saw the moment Ms. Ratchanu jumped off) but the whole thing about checking the boyfriend for injuries and being detained is just to show they are checking all possibilities.

I think this picture sums up the guys detainment because the other picture later shows him at the hospital without police next to him ...

367.jpg

But unless they are using the word "jump" wrong or this is just BS reporting, the following statement sums up what the police think ...

Mr. David has been detained and is to be further investigated by the police. More witnesses will also be interviewed when Ms. Ratchanu regains consciousness the police will find out
why she jumped off the balcony
.

It is also very possible they used the word "has" instead of "was" or "had" when speaking of detaining the boyfriend. Doesn't make a lot of sense to need more witness statements, detain people and be conducting further investigations & witness interviews IF they know "she jumped" as opposed to being pushed, forced or thrown.

The media is horrible everywhere but add to that fact that these story's are written in English by non-native English speakers and it really becomes difficult to believe what you are reading.

I agree! Seems like a pretty small issue to take the flying leap for. If that were the case my GF of 3 years would have done this 5 times or more already. I don't know about you guys but I think if I was going to jump I certainly would aim for a tree. I also don't think she was on drugs either as the hotel room was searched, and probably her Purse as well, and nothing was found. Mind you she could have got some at the bar but I think her BF would mention that in the report and thus give more credence to his innocents.

I also find it hard to believe that this 25 year old guy would throw her off the balcony for the same reasons. Doesn't sound like the type and he was also not on drugs or too drunk either, or I think that would have been mentioned. So my best guess is that it was an accident. Perhaps she threatened to jump and just slipped. Or during the heated discussion he gave her a gentle push, perhaps when her fists started flying, and causing her to lose her balance and go backwards overboard. Still not a good scenerio for him. But I don't think she jumped and I don't think her tried to kill her either in a fit or rage.

Either way it is not unusual to hold someone while an investigation is going on. Perhaps Farangs more than BG because they can easily skip town when a BG can be easily tracked down and brought to justice, if need be. I knew of a ship full of friends travelling from Algeria to Italy who were held on the ship in Italy because one of the crew members was missing. Turns out he jumped overboard and committed suicide. They were finally allowed to leave after 6 days and nights onboard when Italian Authorities determend he had money and marriage problems and a good candidate to commit suicide.

Amazing she lived really. I think the boyfriends got serious problems. I accept they were argueing but not physically fighting, he probably tried to break up with her and faced with losing her meal ticket, she probably said some thing along the lines of "If you break up with me, I will throw myself from the balcony and kill myself".

As a fellow Brit I know what he probably said , he probably called her bluff and said something along the lines of "Jump then".

Thai women can be stubbon as hell sometimes cant they and she probably thought, "why not ".

She ran through the room expecting him to stop her and off she went over the balcony hitting the coconut tree prior to hitting the ground.

But do you know what she thought as she was flying past the 6th floor, 5th floor an 4th floor ? She was thinking, "I cant believe he didnt stop me from jumping, if I survive this I am going to make him pay and pay dearly."

So now when she wakes up and they ask her what happened will she says "In a fit of depression, I tried to kill myself by jumping from the 7th floor", or will she more than likely say, "He did it, he threatened to kill me so I tried to escape". Or will she go further and say, "He pushed me".

Lets just say, the chances of this guy eating his Xmas dinner out of prison isnt looking too promising, in fact I think he will be a guest for a very long time.

But she's very amusing you have to admit.

Incredible jump or pushed. not a lot survived in this height.

hope she survived to tell the truth.

Truth is not the word here. She will tell her version of the story. After hearing both versions one will be left to draw up one's own conclusions. Like in the Japanese movie Rashōmon.

HER version will win out methinks B)

Winning version shall be that of whomever donate more to the police charitable fund.

Never stay higher than second floor. :jap:

Only stay on the second floor, the floods could get you on the ground floor.

Is that the American or British second floor?

(It makes a big difference when thinking about tsunamis in say .... Chiang Mai or Korat)

:whistling:

Why do these young blokes come here ? When I first arrived here in 1995 I was considered young at 42. You rarely saw a foreigner under 30 . However, now they come in hordes WHY ?? When I was in my 20's I could always get a bird back home. I can't get one anymore.... well.... one that I would want, so I come here......... But then I am faced with these young <deleted>, what are they doing here ? Go back home and wait until you are 50+ and then return.

That is what Pattaya is for, so the old sods can get a reasonable looking bird. You young <deleted> are spoiling Pattaya and the birds here. The good looking ones are no longer interested in 50+ men and why???? because of these young tossers coming here thinking they are something special and spoiling it.

Ha!Ha!Ha! Now that was a Good One. A bit Overdone, but well said. Maybe send this to the Admiral of the US Navy before they come to Pattaya again for a week or so, to do there Navel Training Exercises. You might not be able to stop them, but you also might find a new 50+ guy sitting at one of the many Soi Bars in a White Uniform full of Gold Strips, Bars, and Stars.

Sounds like a break up,

she bet the farm on marriage and going back home with him,

3 months up bye-bye. Oops. Aughh! Jump!!!

Plenty of ways to get rid of a cloying girlfriend without throwing her out of the window.

And much better places to give the bye-bye speech to an emotional girl

than a place with a 7th floor window. 2¢

Although I will be very surprised if she actually did jump by choice. I doubt it, unless she was out of her brain on drugs or something .....

A drug called "love"... would not be surprised at all if she jumped by choice, 22 yr old Pattaya girls can get crazy and do stupid things if they fear loosing their bf-sponsor-nice life ...

22 Year Old + Thai lady in Pattaya + Love + with a Brit = .... somehow the it does not add up.

Jilted Brit - Girlfriend = Revenge .... maybe

Let's see what happens; we had a similar case in Chiang Mai; only the guy burned down his house with his wife and his own kids inside after catching her out!

Headlines I would like to read:

"Thai Woman Detained after Farang Boyfriend Jumps Off 7th Floor Of Pattaya Hotel"

hahahahahaha Farang boyfriend wouldn't have the balls to jump from a 7 story building....:D

Hmmm......... You must be showing your age I am 52 and still can pull the young ones *under 25*.... No.... I don't have a big wallet!....blink.gif

Very typical for the TV mob who already have come to a conclusion. I can't be bothered reading past the first page but nobody on page 1 has even bothered to read "The witnesses on the opposite side of the hotel saw the moment Ms. Ratchanu jumped off, hit a branch of a coconut tree before hitting ground. This probably saved her life."

So there were witnesses who saw her jump. Should be the end of the speculation.

True. But then it also says "They inspected his body but no traces of fighting we’re found." If she jumped on her own, as claimed, why bother? Perhaps it is an error in the report and means to say the witness saw her fall, and not say saw her jump. That is two totally different things.

There are a lot of suppositions that farang who fall from high buildings in Thai beach resorts are pushed by Thai g/f's. If that's so, are there any reports of failed attempts at murder in such scenarios. ....or are elder farang all such 'push-overs' (pun intended) that not one can save his own life when accosted by a girl?

Haven't you Guys got a English Dictionary between you?

Chambers Dictionary.

detain

v (tr) 1 to stop.hold back. keep waiting or delay.

2 (of the Polce etc) to keep (someone) in a cell, prison or elsewhere, especially before trial.

See also detentiion. [OFr detente,to hold]

Detained does not mean arrested or that he was put in a cell or handcuffed. You are also "detained" when you are pulled over for a traffic stop. They simply are questioning him and investigating the incident at this point.

[/quote

True he is not in jail yet, but the word "Detained" does not mean to be pulled over for a simple traffic check or violation either. Just Google this and you will see that what "Detained" means is;

A legal definition that is best described as 'just short of arrest.' You are not free to leave, and your freedom may be restricted.

I think a lot more serious than what you would have us believe Mate.
