Whats the best/cheapest way to send under 50 kilo boxes to America? post office? UPS? what? the items are all going to be household items and personal effects.

If your in no hurry, the best way is through the post office as surface mail. It takes approx. 2 months from Chanthaburi to Oregon and have never had a problem in 8 years.

My friend just sent 10+ large boxes to San Diego from a PO south of Pattaya. They all arrived and in about 5 weeks times...or so...

She did lose one last year. Ended up in Spain and she got a letter asking for payment of insurance ($100) to get it back. Obviously a scam.

Try to contact abs-relocations. They are a good forwarder/removal company. We used them twice.

Surface mail includes boat transport. It is one of the best options if time is not a problem.

Depending on the size (not weight) of the boxes, using a cargo agent might be similar in price or even cheaper and definitely faster.
