I got info about what i need to bring and how to do the renewal from this forum but i have one very important question.

Can non thai speaking person go alone and do the process?

I barely speak Thai. Do I need to bring translator? Or can anyone at Department of Land Transportation assist me with language?

For my temp (1 yr) license, my Thai friend helped me get it, but for this renewal I cannot get anyone to help.

So i'm trying to do it alone.

im going to head office near BTS mochit.

Also, is it less crowded to go in the morning or afternoon.

Thanks for the help

I did mine about 12mths ago and was able to get by without speaking much Thai, its all a ticket system anyway, just get in the right queue (it was signposted in English) get your ticket, wait your turn and then hand over your old license, get the photo done and get your new one - was really simple!

Renewed mine last week. Got medical cert, copies of work permit and passport relevent pages together and collected a number in the office. No problem with language , just nod and smile. If you don't have a work permit you need a letter from your Embassy stating proof of your address.

In Bangkok they prefer the embassy letter, not sure if Immigration even issues letters in BKK.

Elsewhere the immigration letter is the norm in case you don't have WP or Yellow Book.

How does one go about getting the yellow book?
