Majority of Bangkokians happy with anti-drug campaign

The Nation

An Abac Poll survey found that a moderate majority of respondents in Bangkok and large cities were satisfied with an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign by the Yingluck government.

Of 2,154 people over 18 in Bangkok and 17 large provinces surveyed on December 18, 76.3 per cent of them said they happy with the efforts while another 23.7 per cent said not.

Asked about government individuals’ antidrugs performances they were most happy with, 80 per cent approved Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, 79.4 per cent for NGOs and the public sector, 74.1 per cent went to the police’s antinarcotics division.

The other approval ratings go to, with persons followed by percentage cited: national police chief Priewpan Damapong (74.1); the military (73.6); the Office of Narcotics Control Board and Justice Minister Pracha Promnok (73); community leaders (70.8), and local administrative bodies (70.6).

Asked about more immediate problems they would like to see first solved: the respondents said: high cost of living (65.5 per cent); crimes (59.7); corruption (51.4); narcotics (37.8); social issues including misbehaving youths.

since drugs are bringing all the other drug-related crime to Thailand I am happy with Khun Yinglucks politics.

Specially in Phuket the so called hard drugs like Cocain and YabaIce are on the rise....and so are the burglars

I am wishing the good old times back when we can sleep with open doors or windows  these times are past

and whoever is sleeping with open windows, be aware, this time is over after the first druguser catches attention

and visiting you while you are sleeping....and be happy not to wake up then.... :jap:

Surprising poll results. Usually, if there is displeasure with a governmen, it influences opinions held on all government policies. I suspect that resentment for the government arising from the chaos of the Bangkok water runoff issues is disipating. The government may have a very popular policy that just might bolster the public's confidence in the government.

Not surprising to me at all. The majority of Thais across the country were all to happy about Thaksin's version of the campaign, in which thousands of addicts (not just pushers) were summarily executed or disappeared.

The outside world disapproved, but not the Thais.

This despite the fact that those dealers tied in with the right mafia networks weren't touched. In fact in discussing this with Thais, many cynically saw the whole exercise as simply one mafia organisation (the BiB) reducing its competition and forcing up prices all in one fell swoop, some actually expressed admiration for the elegance of such a strategy. . .

Well the Burglar is happy if I not wake up Yes!!

you should visit a house where something like this was happend. While you have to wake up the burglar is full with

adrenalin and scared he is too....makes him kind of insane...I see 3 houses where blood was all over...and not the

blood of the burglar, in one house he used a kitchen knife and hit the owner so hard with it that the tip of the

knife was in his backbone while the knife (a good one, no cheap thai-<deleted>) was on the floor in about 3L of blood.

I wish since years I catch one of this animals ((((: but better they take my 500 Baht and run with it.

2,154 people from BKK and 17 large provinces surveyed. Why so few?

Indeed a very good question. There was a Thai documentary about a week ago, where a younger guy came up with the story that he had been addicted to pot! They killed dogs and other BS. You could see that all of them drank Lao Khao, which was the problem he had. But nobody even mentioned the deadly whiskey.

I've seen many guys in my wife's village dying because of Lao Khao, but it seems to be a part of Isan culture?

Fact is that Yingluck's older brother had given order around 8 years ago to kill all people who had Jaba, his son was addicted that time. Everyone who got killed by cops was found dead with a gun in his/her hand.

About 3,000 people- or more- got killed, many were missing until today. The containers near Satthahip with skeletons and skulls was just one story. jap.gif
