I have searched this forum, I have scoured google, all I get is conflicting information so some facts would be greatly appreciated. My passport is with my lawyer in another city because we are about to apply for my work permit renewal, suddenly today I got confirmed for a job in Malaysia for a few days flying out sunday the 18th at 7:15 am. So Im meeting my lawyer tomorrow Saturday to grab my passport, obviously no time to go to immigration. So applying for the re-entry permit must be done on the day of departure if you apply at the airport, ok, but some sites say the office hours for that is 6am, others 8am and one official site which I think is wrong says the office is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week which would make far too much sense so I have discounted that as ridiculous misinformation. Anyone know what the real time is? Will I have time to apply for my re-entry permit before flight? Thanks a bunch.

Believe officially 06-2400.

if that is true, and since they insist you apply for it the day you are travelling well.... typical, gives me maybe 20 minutes to get it done if Im first in line if Im lucky

There is, of course, always the option of getting it at your immigration office at any time during office hours.

Suan Plu is open for re-entry permit issue Saturday mornings.

Wont get my passport until afternoon but are you absolutely sure about that anyway? Read here on the site that it was not open for reentry permits on weekend.

Don't know what site you read that on but they have always been open for re-entry permits on Saturday mornings - that is the only service they offer now for non adjacent country nationals.

Not sure why Im not coming across clearly... O.o I get my passport tomorrow afternoon at 4pm so no matter how many times you tell me its open Saturday morning that doesnt help me... Im not trying to be difficult here lol. Im worried that they actually open at 8 am which would completely destroy my work permit... if they open at 6 am then hopefully with me waiting there at 5:30 am already checked in (I hope that is possible to check in by 5:30!!) with my documents ready I can get it done relatively quickly and everything will be fine. But in my heart I feel like this is a disaster about to happen... things rarely go the way they are planned here :(

They assured me on the phone that the immigration departure section opens at 6am, of course the 7 phone numbers they game me to contact them all didnt work :D but the call center lady seemed sure... lol and they assured me I can check in 3 hours before so hopefully my plan to be there waiting at 5:30 am will be fine.

And I thought that I clearly answered that with "Agree not of use to you if passport not available" but you also questioned it being open on Saturday and I provided the information that it indeed is open to answer you and other readers who may have reason to use it.

:whistling:

I beleieve...but I'm not certain...that you can apply for the rentry permit before you check in and before you go through immgration, because there is a desk outside the immigration.

However, I don't know where that is.

I guess you should plan to go to the airport early enough to find that desk, and purchase you reentry permit there.

Give yourself enough time to do it.

1,200 baht - wait 45 minutes for processing. Allow 1 hour at least for the process. Don't need photos any longer (digital). Desk is open 0600 -2400 hrs (according to sign!).

Much smoother operation now than a year or so ago. You must have your boarding pass in-hand, as the Re-entry Permit Desk is inside the Departure Immigration processing area beyond the main concourse. The Immigration Officer will even allow you to start queuing for Immigration desk, and have someone hand-deliver your completed re-entry permit/passport to you while in line. Brilliant.
