Entered With No Visa At Airport - Want To Extend

Featured Replies

I am canadian, 46 years old. I entered thailand with no visa so was given 30 days at the airport. I now want to stay for 4-5 months.

What are the best options for getting the visas i need?

I am staying in Mahasarakham (North East Thailand)

thanks!

Apply for a double entry Tourist Visa a Vientiane or Savanakhet Laos. Each entry is valid for a stay of 60 days and each stay can be extended for 30 days for 1900 Baht. You would just need to make sure to use the second entry before the "Use by Date" or visa expiration date.

thanks beechguy - My 30 day visa expired on Jan 12th. is there a chance that the 60 day visa could be declined, and if so... can i re-enter thailand just to catch my flight out on the 11th of January.

thanks

Getting confused with your chronology and terminology now. What exactly has "expired on Jan 12th"?.... this is still December and you said you entered without a visa. What date did you enter Thailand?

Suspect his permission to stay ends on the 12th. You should not have any problem getting at least one entry tourist visa and if you do not have a number of old entries more likely 2 entry will be issued. Even for those not getting anything because of frequent visa trips they can still return on a normal land border 15 day visa exempt entry.

Once you leave Thailand and enter Laos that 30 visa exempt status ends.. But if for some strange reason you are denied a tourist visa then you still can come back to Thailand with a 15 days visa exempt stamp. So plan well.

Sorry i meant to says "expires" not "expired"

I entered on Dec 13th so the 30 days expires Jan 12th.

Recent posts seem to indicate that Savannakhet is more "friendly" and you are aboout equidistant from either one if you are driving. I don't know about public transport.

OK, no worries... it does appear that Savannakhet for a double TR would be your best option; there's some sticky posts at the head of this forum that will give you the latest info you need.

So you arrived 4 days ago, head to deepest Isaan and suddenly want to stay 4-5 months.

Who is she?!

Sorry, but something is not correct here, December 13th to January 12th are 31 days - not 30. Did you actually enter December 14th or does your permission to stay expire on January 11th?

Just want to make sure that you do not unknowingly overstay.
