I'm the recipient of a Wilkin and Son's Tiptree 1 pound Christmas pudding.

The genius in customs stuck his sticker right over the instructions and it's not coming off.

I don't have a microwave so I'll have to steam it... but for how long?

And pray tell sir... what is so amusing?

Do you suspect I may not rise at 4am to prepare the pudding for a 1pm lunch?

Oh ye of little faith!

You don't need to. Get up at six and do it. They won't be ready for that until 3pm anyway.

It was an interesting post because I actually considered making a pudding from scratch a couple of years back and then I recalled that the cooking time was on that scale.

A previous wife used to make them months beforehand, cook them, hang them in the laundry then cook them again on Christmas day.

Ingredients: vine fruits (sultanas, currants, raisins), sugar, breadcrumbs (contains wheat), refined palm oil, cider, flour, eggs, citrus peel, tawny marmalade, brandy, mixed spices, salt (in an earthenware basin)

No Suet in your pudding so an hour will be enough; hours and a half tops.

Try steam ironing the label and it might separate.
