BillHanna Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Been looking for butter from organic/grass fed cows and Almond milk in Bkk but haven't had any luck finding any. Anyone out there know a place that carries them?
WilliaminBKK Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If you want amazing tasting butter, try making it yourself. You can get organic cream 35% or double cream. It will go from whipped cream to butter in about 5 minutes, you then wash the butter with ICE cold water, (if you want to save the butter milk before doing the water wash just put it in a glass)salt and store. It is fun and tastes wonderful. Be prepared the cost is usually double what the sotre bought carageen butter costs. If your container of cream mentions the calories it is interesting to play around vs store bought butter, in my calculation home made butter is 40% less calories and no additives and again tastes amazing. I've seen soy milk and almond milk at Central World Food Hall, the stuff in the tetra pak.
BillHanna Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. Where in BKK do you buy organic cream though? Central World have that also?
WilliaminBKK Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Yes Central World and the Food Hall in Siam Paragon, the brand I look for is Bulla from Oz- I recall someone mentioning Makro carries whipping cream, maybe others can comment. Look for Carrageenan, you don't want that, it is a seaweed gelling agent they add to cream nowadays, but the organic doesn't have that filler. Here is a quick and easy how to video using a food processor.
Gippy Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Did you try looking in Lemon Farm for organic butter?
