Passed it being built the other day between chatrium and saphan krungthep-called asiatic something.

Looks like they converting a bunch of old boathouses into this upscale kind of waterfront market that one might find in the west. Lots of international flags about-it almost looks like there was some planning before they started construction.

Anyone have more info on what it will be? A proper market or just more tourist junk leftover from the night market. It looks too upscale to be another jj wannabe.

I remember reading about this and think it's supposed to be quite good. We'll find out soon.

TCC Land is launching a new lifestyle shopping development in Bangkok known as "Asiatique the River Front" along the Chao Phraya River which will be the largest of its kind in Asia. With a total land area of over 72 rai (22 acres) and based on the theme "Festival Market and Living Museum," the developers are hoping to attract both Thai and foreign shoppers. The center will be highlighting over 1,500 stores, theaters and panoramic restaurants and will be opening by December 2011.

Cool thanks for the link. From what I can see from my boat, the lowrise shops on the riverfront etc could be done soonish, the big building in the back looks a fair ways off.

Yea my boat is big and white and got a flag on the back migsy, I drive it to work daily-less traffic, lots of parking. ;)
