PHUKET: -- A Brazilian tourist was found dead in his Phuket hotel room on Tuesday after he and a male friend brought two Patong bar hostesses back to their room.

The body of the deceased, 30-year-old Daniel Rocha Jordan Brasileiro, is under examination at Patong Hospital.

A member of the staff at the guest house where the pair were staying said the men checked in the day before.

Daniel, who had been living in New Zealand, checked into the country with his Brazilian passport, said police.

The men returned at about 3am with two bargirls, who they took up to their second floor room in the guest house located on Soi Foodland, not far from the epicenter of the Patong nightlife scene on Soi Bangla.

“I saw one of the two girls leave our guesthouse at about 6am. I don’t know about the other girl, because I went out to buy some food in the morning,” said the staff member.

“At about 8am his friend came down and told us Mr Brasileiro had died, so we called the Patong Police,” he said.

Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation workers transported the body to the Patong Hospital morgue at about 11:30am, after which time the friend quickly checked out and left, she added.

According to Patong Police, the friend told them Mr Brasileiro was having respiratory difficulties on the night he died. The duty officer this morning declined to give more information about the case.

A reliable source who was at the scene told the Phuket Gazette that a quantity of erectile dysfunction medicine was found in the room.

Does anyone know how many foreigner deaths happen in Phuket compared to Pattaya yearly? It seems there is one in either or both places almost weekly.

Of course we don't know where this guy bought this medicine. (or if it was the killer in this case for sure)

But, I'd like to see the drug companies that put out these ads and be prosecuted for all the rotten side effects they don't tell you about.

A license to kill!

RIP Daniel

Probably bought on the street, and if so I would be surprised if any drug company was even remotely involved in its manufacture, distribution or sale.

They do on all of the legitimately supplied ones. and in most places require a MD prescription to get them in most all countries. But not in Thailand, and there are cheap priced generics, which are essentially the same formula but without royalties paid. But someone with ane existing chronic condition who decides it 'isn't working yet' and doubles the dose, could have a bad interaction.

Leg cramps is typical, but a respiratory issue could be made worse by vaso-dilation which is the main action of these drugs. In general they are quite safe if used properly. But as everything from baby apspirin on up, misuse can be fatal.

Almost all of the cialis and viagra sold without a script or sourced from a non reputable pharmacy chain such as Watsons or Boots in Patong is considered to be counterfeit. The guilty partie are not the legitimate drug manufacturers that provide a product for a serious ailment, but rather the shops that sell the counterfeit products.

Yes, those are to blame, but so are the people buying and taking them. They know they are buying drugs that should only be available on prescription.

Normally a 30 year old man wouldn't have the kind of preexisting condition that would make Viagra fatal.

I would think that more to the point this;

Normally a 30 year old man wouldn't have the kind of preexisting condition that would make Viagra fatal. neccessary

People use these meds for recreational purposes. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about exactly what drugs he had in his body. I strongly think this case needs a full investigation.
