yougivemebaby Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I am a 34 yr old American. I recently got a business visa from the Thai Embassy in Australia. I have a multi entry 1 year visa. Do I need to do a border run or can I go to the immigration for an extension ? I am near Si Rattana, Si Saket. Where would be the closest place to get this extension? Thank you!! Happy NEW YEAR~!!
lopburi3 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Do you qualify for an extension of stay? You are working here with a work permit and 50k per month income? And your company has a years tax records? If not you must leave after a 90 day stay to obtain a new 90 day stay.
digitalchromakey Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 With this kind of visa you will have to leave/re-enter Thailand before the 'Permitted to Stay' date stamped in your passport (max stay between border runs is 90 days). You can only extend this kind of visa at your local Thai Immigration if you/your company meet many criteria including your having a current Thai Work Permit plus taxes paid against Thai Income. See attached pdf below for details of the criteria:
yougivemebaby Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Thanks for the quick response . It's a type "B" visa. Not an employment visa.
yougivemebaby Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Do I go to immigrations to extend my 90 day visa or do i need to make a border run. if so, which border crossing would be closest to to Si Rattana/Si Saket /Ubon Rachatani.
Mario2008 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 It depends on your situation, see post number 2. You have to answer that question before you can get a question on your own question.
yougivemebaby Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 It depends on your situation, see post number 2. You have to answer that question before you can get a question on your own question. I have a one year multi entry visa. Says on my passport stamp. I am looking for new business opportunities right now. I am not employed in Thailand.
wayned Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 For information only. No matter how many border crossings you make, your last entry into Thailand must be before the expiration date of your visa, not the expiration of the permission to stay stamp in your passport. If you leave and re-enter the day before the visa expires, you will still get permission to stay for 90 days from that date.
yougivemebaby Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Okay thank you. Do i need to bring anything besides myself, passport, and departure card? I am near SiSaket, Where would be the nearest border crossing?

Upnotover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Okay thank you. Do i need to bring anything besides myself, passport, and departure card? I am near SiSaket, Where would be the nearest border crossing? Cash for the Cambodian visa, think they normally want 1000THB even though it is supposed to be 20USD. I know guy's do visa runs from Ryan's Resort in Prasat, takes them about an hour or 2 back and forth from there.
TigerWan Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 If it's a "one year" visa, recently obtained, is it not good for one year? I can't believe it is expected new business owners must hop out of the country every 90 days. And to fly away destinations correct? No way to support new business ventures. Who said it's easy to do business here? Same folks who said it's easy to own land ? Let's say I have a visa that expires this week I've just started a Co., Ltd. but haven't hired anyone yet, can I go to immigration and ask for an extension ?
TigerWan Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Thanks for the quick response . It's a type "B" visa. Not an employment visa. What's the difference, a WP must have a B visa. correct? Is there another work/ business visa ? ( excl. Ed, O is retired and or family. ? )

Below is the list of requirements for an Extension of Permission to to Stay on the basis of Employment/Business in the Kingdom of Thailand.
yougivemebaby Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 I drove over to Cambodia ! I just didn't know where to do a border crossing. I understand now that I can simply cross the border. I paid 1000 baht for the Cambodian visa then the Cambodian border guys wanted another 300 baht . What was that for? I'm not going to start a fight with them over it but <deleted>?
