Hi guys,

I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction by anyone who knows the cheapest options for starting BA degrees in Thailand, preferably online?

I realise the Thais can start at many institutions for virtually nothing (weekends etc) but was not confident about it being the same for us! I know a few good teachers who appear that they will have to stop with the pending 3rd waiver issues, unless there is a late u-turn that looks unlikely. Obviously earning 30-40k a month leaves very little scope and it is more for submittance on the above than anything else.

Any help would be appreciated so I can pass it along as I'd imagine there will be a lot of anxiety as the deadline gets nearer for quite a few.

If you are planning on doing an on-line degree, there is no reason to limit yourself to Thailand. There are a lot of schools which have on-line courses leading to a degree.

I think he's asking about real "education"! There're hundreds of on-line universities offering degrees but how do you pick the wheat from the chaff?

Probably the best thing to do is take a look at the schools history, staffing and accreditation. Finally, factor in the cost factors and other requirements. For example, can the exams be given locally? Does the school require any courses to be taken in residence at the school campus?

A friend who was taking a degree on line from a Canadian University worked quite hard. His tests were administered at the Canadian embassy, etc..

Also, if the person has attended or has any University credits, are they transferable to the new school and applicable to the new degree.

If you are an Ameircan and paying taxes every year you can claim a tax deduction or credit at Payap University. That should cut your tuition in half.

yes checked it out. fees are 4 times higher for foreigners. is this a government uni and so subject to subsidies or is this just another 2 tier system of foreigner pays more ?

You have to already have a BA/ BS degree to be eligible for the program. It is a second bachelors program. The pricing reflects a discount for Thais - the foreigners price is the same as charged at the home institution in Canada.
