Car Boot Sale/Garage Sale

Featured Replies

In all my time here I have never seen a car boot sale or the like,do they have them here in Thailand or is this merely a western phenomenon,I miss my weekend jaunts, early start bargain hunting break for a coffee etc etc, given that many people don't have/earn so much one would have thought that a second hand market would thrive here.

Or is all about saving face and the like, best not to show others that one is struggling to get along and opts/has to shop this way.

Not car boot sales, but several of the evening markets around here (Bang Saray/Sattahip) have plenty of 2nd hand goods stalls (tools, books, magazines, clothes, watches, household items). I expect there are similar markets all over Thailand.

You have a second market near chatuchak. I know one in Korat too. But they sell mostly "collectible".

On the other hand, the stuff imported from China are sold at such a cheap price, what the point to buy second hand ?

It's just like socks. Who still fix socks ? I remember my grand mother had a piece of wood she inserted inside the sock she wanted to fix. These days, when there is a hole in your socks, you just throw them away and buy a new pair.
