Flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport Unaffected by Terrorist Threat Reports

The director of Suvarnabhumi Airport says the number of flights and tourist arrivals to Thailand have been unaffected by reports of terrorist threats. Meanwhile, the airport has raised its security level to 3.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Director Somchai Sawasdipol said the airport is currently working closely with the Royal Thai Police intelligence unit to stay abreast of the situation after reports that Thailand may become a target of terrorist attacks.

He said the airport has increased its security level to level 3.

The highest level is 4.

Additional officials have been deployed and more frequent patrols are being made both inside and outside the passenger building.

Passengers and carry-on luggage are also subjected to rigorous screening before boarding flights.

However, Somchai affirmed that the number of flights and tourist arrivals to the airport have not declined, despite rumors of potential terrorist attacks.

Currently, Suvarnabhumi Airport is handling an average 1,000 flights daily and about 150,000 passengers.

That must mean that before you park your car in the parking area, they must have 3 guys with mirrors under the car checking for what.wacko.png

I have to say i went on a tour of a large food production facility at the airport. I was able to walk through the metal detector with it going off and no security was anywhere to be seen. Was a joke. Handed me a security badge but never needed it once inside and had access to all level security areas. I could not believe it. They had metal detectors but no one there. Company was using pirate software as well. This is a major company here. I also remember the person in charge stating that the reason the food tasted so bad is because it had to be hygienic. Holy crap! You can believe it but don't say it! Also one of the guys plating the food was picking his nose, but to be fair he had gloves on. Bon appetit!

Come on Thailand, don't turn into America's puppy dog. Don't fall into the endless game of security levels and color codes and other scare tactics, please. Just got about your business and be cautious.
