thequietman
Arrived in late to work this morning so I was on the roads a little later than normal. At 9 :30 am two police cars and 9 mini buses came speeding towards me............. up the middle of a two lane road. there were at least 300 scouts from the local school who were also walking on the hard shoulder. because these morons were coming up the middle of the 2 roads, the pickups had to swerve into where the motorbikes go. the motorbikes in turn had to push further in on this already small space. the kids had to jump into the brush to evade getting hit by all traffic. And the Pue Thai Roadshow just sped on oblivious to or just didnt care. I choose the latter. when will these self opinionated, up their own <deleted>, i am more important than the safety of kids, look at me, i am sooooo important idiots, show any common sense and thought towards the thai people. there were however lots of flashing lights which as we all know thais get very excited about, just look at the little temples outside homes. ok rant over. have a nice day.

Another these people and there illogical driving character thread. so you think endangering kids so they can get to their important meeting 10 minutes earlier than normal is to be commended ? In case you didn't know, there is a threat of terrorist attack in Thailand. VIPs might be a target. As such, it is to be expected that VIPs would travel in convoys and use evasive driving technique. The Thai officials were most likely taking the foreign embassy warnings seriously. You need not pay attention to those terrorism warnings since you are not a VIP and therefore not a target. Only really special Thais might be targets. One of the requirements is to have big poofy hair. Sheesh. You would understand this if you had a hi so part chinese wife with multiple university diplomas and if one of your relatives was a senior ranking military or police officer. Tonto21
It’s not, I think just Thailand, what’s that saying; “give a poor per a horse and he ride it to hell” In country like Thailand one of the ways to project self-importance is to piss of as many people as you can…….That’s, of course people that have no control or any influence over you…..The more people you can piss off, the more important you will be seen as by the lower classes. Also anyone in the service of these ‘toadies’ can get away with being ‘dicks’ as well, the drivers of the vehicles. So it goes like this…..The more reckless you or your entourage are, the higher up the food chain you are. We can all take some comfort in the fact, (as confirmed by the Thai police) not one single accident or injury has ever been attributed to the ‘cannon ball run’ by anyone taking part in said ‘run’ (men of influence) any injuries, deaths or damage to …..Well, anything is down to exited onlookers not paying attention to their own safety! You do know you can simply pay the police to provide a traffic stopping escort……Rush hour…No problem, 2, 3 maybe 5 police cars, no problem………..”Cash”………”that will do nicely Sir”

See, here's the thing about VIP's, in almost all cases they are not, in fact, very important at all. Should some misfortune befall any of them, in any number, life will go on. Someone just as self serving, corrupt and incompetent will take there places in very short order with little or no disruption to the planet.

Pseudolus
Doubt he is still here, but of all the so called "important people" in Thailand, Blair would be the only serious target of an international terrorist attack on VIPs in this country. In the grand scheme of things, a senior exec in an oil company is more high profile and attack worthy than a Thai politician. Cripes, even the more prolific posters on here would be. I agree with the OP - just some idiot believing all the rubbish his mummy and daddy has told them about how special they are endangering others because they are not as important his the convey rider thinks they are. wayned
If you haven't realized it yet, llfe is just one big circus. You just have to endure all of the clown and animal acts that are happening in the "ring" that you choose to enter. You chose this one. I'm not saying that it's right or wrong, but that's what's happening here and now and no matter what you or I say won't change it! Over 20 years ago I saw a policeman pull out his gun and shoot at a van full of people that refused to stop at a makeshifr roadblock on the upper level of the motorway to the old airport. He continued to shoot until he ran our of bullets. What was the reason for the roadblock? The Kings entourage was passing on the road below. I really believe that that policeman's son would do the same thing today! Most Thais deal wirh these sutuations well since it is and has been a part of up bringing and dealing with these situations is part of their everyday life. Thongkorn
I would say that any terrorist attack in Thailand would not be against Thais, Unless it was from down south. It is more likely that it is a problem caused by the West, and being fought out anywhere in the world including Thailand, The west cause the problems and it Involves every County after that.

I take it your Thai. So the bombs going off in Bangkok were from people from down south and not aimed at Thai people. Just keep blaming the worlds problems on the west and turn a blind eye to whats going on closer to home. The reason Thailand can't be blamed for anything is because rather than fight against any real opponents, you just pucker your lips.
