I was in T3 at Heathrow in July and overheard a scouser on his phone talking to his mate, he had just arrived from up North and I would guess was on his way to catch a flight. He said to his mate, "I'm in T3 now and you just wouldn't believe it, the whole place is full of foriegners, and there's not a Brit to be seen anywhere". He clearly hadn't seen me and if he's looked a little bit harder he would have seen a few more white Anglo Saxons, but the point is that T3 is where the long haul charter flights take off and land and there's a ton of them, naturally there's loads of foriegners there although the scouser didn't seem able to join up the dots! It makes sense that Immigration there is similarly staffed (as in English people with different ethnic backgrounds) as a result of likely language difficulties, lest we not forget that London/UK is a tourist destination!

A good friend of my fathers, (We will call him Bill) a 67 yr old retired paramedic was married to a Thai woman for 35 yrs until she sadly passed away a few yrs ago from cancer. They lived together in Australia and raised a family, Thailand was no more than a holiday destination once a year.

A couple of years after her passing he formed a relationship with another Thai woman who came to Australia to spend some time with him in the early stages. The woman was around 47 yrs old still a few years younger than him. After being together for a couple of months she asked him to build a house back in Thailand for her parents. To keep the story short he replied, "No" he was not going to spend his retirement fund to build a house for them Well this did not please the woman who then threatened to leave him. Bill replies ok so what time does your plane leave or words to that effect. Well this went down like a wet fart and it was then plan "B" The woman goes to the kitchen and gets a carving knife threatening to kill herself and actually cuts her arm just a little in an effort to make a point.

Bill being a retired paramedic knows the proceedure when dealing with such people and called the police. The police turn up and she is ranting and raving how he is a bad man and still holding the knife threatening self harm. She cops a face full of O.C spray and is carted off in the back of the police van for a psych assessment. At the hospital psych ward she is still ranting about how he is a bad man and will not build a house for her parents and still want's to kill herself unless he does. She gets admitted for 10 days as an involuntary psych patient (Tax payers expence of course) Last he heard she was back in the LOS where she phoned him to say sorry and she still loved him. Good old Bill moved on without the nutcase.

I am ashamed to be from the UK sometimes. Our immigration rules are a f*****g disgrace, if a UK born citizen chooses to marry a female from any other country his new wife should have automatic rights to live with her new husband in the UK without all this bull s**t red tape and this should be the same world wide. I get impression that you are throwing your toys out of the pram because you are not getting what YOU think is right and are entitled to. The UK Government, like those of other countries, are concerned for the wellbeing and prosperity of the majority of those who elected them to power. It isn't just about you. Life isn't fair, deal with it. I'm pi$$ed off because my State Pension is frozen but successive Governments have ordained that is what will be. I have to accept that although it is a bitter pill. BTW I didn't see any UK Government ministers alongside me in Korea, at Suez or helping out Malaysia during their troubles. The reality is that to all Governments the common people are only bricks in the wall. Doing the right thing is seldom a Governmental priority, Thailand being a prime example

Think about some of the women that farangs marry who then go walkabout on reaching the UK. How do you think that the Thai massage parlours of the UK are populated? Look at what happened when we let people from the sub continent in - with, over time, the columns of their relatives trailing behind them. Just how many illegals are now in the UK? And there is no shortage of do-gooders helping them to stay.

I am with you in my heart but my brain tells me that there have to be controls. The UK is a collection of small islands and the economy, such as it is, can support only so many. The US with lots of room recognises this and they maintain quotas, including people from the UK who want to escape from the disaster area that the UK is now becoming. Over one third of UK pensioners live abroad. Ask yourself why.

If you don't like the UK immigration and entry laws then change the Government to one of your liking - if you can. It is part of what is known as democracy. I harbour the thought that if there were a UK referendum on the subject the the doors might have to be closed and mass deportations would ensue. Unfortunately one of life's truisms is that usually the majority get things wrong. Many of the postings in this place, including my own, here prove that point.

Check out what France is doing about their multitudes of Muslim 'invaders' and current attitudes in The Netherlands. Australia is pretty much in the same boat. Are there any Aussies here who are ashamed of their Government because of their immigration policies? How many Americans are politically active to stop their Government from erecting walls along their southern border? Many farang ex-pats same same me, are following the example of many of the World's refugees are taking the easier option (although God knows how perilous that is in many cases) and moving on rather than solving their own problems and sorting their own countries out.

I am sorry if you are having problems but I am sure that if you take the time and trouble to look at the rules - and follow them - you will be able to get what you want. Just jump through the hoops, same same as we have to do in Thailand.
