I'm thinking of giving a trackball a try , and wondered if any one here is using / had used a trackball and can comment , it seems the best option is a trackball with scrolling . Ive not as yet managed to find a trackball on sale at my local IT Mall , or on line

has any one see a track ball for sale here in Thailand ?

I have had 2 both bought in Thailand.......... 1 at Zeer Ransit the other at Pantip 2, both were the same 'Microsoft'

The problem is if/when they stop working, and the very high price....... All well and good having a long Warranty, you still have to take it back [if the shop is still in Business] and wait for weeks for repair...

Nice normal scroll mouse 4 - 500 baht, ....... trackball from 1,700 baht, the good thing was you can unscrew and take the ball out to clean..[ I have 6 long haired dogs always clogging up with hair]

Have a look at different website, the Sponsor on here has 2 on there website looks cheap 1x 670 baht the other 1,590 baht.

Shop4Thai has then starting from 3,400 baht.......... JIB 2,999 baht both online sites, + JIB Computers are everywhere in IT Malls so easy if you have to return it.

Thanks for the comments , I did have a quick look at the online web sites you mention , but could not find a trackball with the scrolling option , which would prefer to use

the standard mouse or trackball ? , just looking at a couple of trackball YouTube videos , it looks like the trackball is less tiresome to use than a normal mouse .

Have used trackballs periodically for years. I put them in the same category as trackpads and IBM's pointy nub thingy... HATE them with a passion. If you can borrow one to try for a week or two rather than buy one, I'd do that if I was you. See if it suits you first - they're most definitely an acquired taste... You'll pry my Logitech Nano cordless out of my cold dead fingers before you'll catch me using a trackball again...

I use the Logitech M570 bought from the sponsor that ignis mentioned, and I have to say I never thought I would like a trackball but after using it for about 3 months now I can safely say I will never go back to a conventional mouse again that's for sure.

I have a friend who would use nothing else but a track ball. I complained every time I tried to use his trackball. I doubt that I could ever get used to it. Different strokes for different folks.

traceball is available in Thailand, I saw Logitech and Microsoft as well.

all depend what you use the trackball for ! for everyday point and click, a good wireless laser mouse is more comfortable. for technical and design applications, traceball has better control over the cursor movement. indeed, you may need some learning curve for adapting the track ball, after that all will be fine !

year ago, I had a severe 'mouse arm' problem. doctor suggested I should change the pointing device 'PERIODICALLY'. I changed to traceball and stayed with if for a year. 'mouse arm' problem gone, but my thumb was really stressed.

As several people noted, using a trackball or mouse is a highly personal choice.

Try one out, if you can, to see if it's something you feel comfortable using before buying.

Check out the button position and usage, as you note there are different designs.
