weka Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 This concerns all of us animal lovers. I urge you to visit this website to learn more - there's a petition there too if you're inclined. http://www.wfft.org/ (Mods, this ain't lobbying, it's promoting a discussion specifically for the people who read this forum)
BookMan Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 There needs to be some international attention focused on what's happening to gain some meaningful action. Also a warning for all rescue organisations to be very careful about politics and who you criticise in Thailand.
wolf5370 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 There is more than one way to skin a cat (excuse the expression) - I would think they are rethinking (strategy wise) now; that criticism should be moved to their offshore counterparts in their home countries - one may find tourism is a soft enough target in the nature loving west, expose after expose may get boring, but it also becomes "common knowledge". Will terrorism warnings and civil disorder alerts, as well as floods, murders and beating and other such things, looks like a likely "man" to hit while it's down.
Allyt Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 There needs to be some international attention focused on what's happening to gain some meaningful action. Also a warning for all rescue organisations to be very careful about politics and who you criticise in Thailand. You are spot on, raising awareness and humiliating government officials from within Thailand let alone a vulnerable and easy target of an NGO is nai on suicide. But times are desperate & real. There are some big & influencial people involved in this and there are 1,000's employed within the industry that assist it's continuation. Any actions taken now to increase awareness outside Thailand must be seen as having long term impact. Sadly the current situation will prevail until those table turn. I too have it on good authority that ENP will be raided tomorrow. Ally
