Bangkok:-- Police on Tuesday arrested an Iranian suspected of involving in the triple bomb blasts in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport as he was about to depart for Malaysia.

The suspect was identified as Mohammad Hazaei, 42. He was waiting for an Air Asia flight to to Kuala Lumpur.

The arrest was made after separate three bomb explosions hit Bangkok on the Valentine's Day.

Another Iranian; Saerb Morabi, was now treated at a hospital after an explosive fell from his hands to the ground, exploded and mutilated his legs.

Police claimed Saerb, Hazaei and the third Iranian still at large rented a house in Klongtan district allegedly to make bombs. On Tuesday morning, a bomb went off at their house, sending the three to flee.

The first two managed to escape while Saerb failed to get a taxi. He then threw the bomb at the taxi before running to a main road only to find police and throw a bomb at them.

The bomb however accidentally fell to the ground, went off and cut his legs.

Thailand was warned of possible bomb threat: Police

BANGKOK, February 14, 2012 (AFP) - Thailand was alerted about the threat of a potential bomb attack ahead of a string of blasts that rocked the capital Bangkok on Tuesday, the national police chief said.

"There was some warning of a possible attack and police were monitoring, but we did not know where it would happen," Phrewphan Damapong told reporters.

The city has been on edge since Thai police charged a Lebanese man suspected of planning an attack in Bangkok following a US warning of a threat of a terrorist strike on tourist areas last month, although Thai police said they had found no direct link.

A statement by Israel Defence Minister Ehud Barak suggested the incident was part of a wider threat.

"The attempted attack in Bangkok proves once again that Iran and its proxies are continuing to act in the ways of terror and the latest attacks are an example of that," said the message released in Hebrew.

Tuesday's blasts came a day after bombs targeted Israeli interests in India and Georgia, injuring a diplomat and her driver in New Delhi, in attacks that Israel accused Iran of masterminding.

Bangkok bomb squad investigators rushed to the scene after three men were seen fleeing after a blast at a house in the Sukhumvit Road area in the east of Bangkok.

One of the men hurled an explosive device at a taxi which refused to stop and later tried to throw another device at police, triggering a blast on the side of a busy road which tore off his legs, authorities said.

Israel's Barak blames Iran for Bangkok blasts

JERUSALEM, February 14, 2012 (AFP) - Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak accused Iran on Tuesday of being behind a series of blasts in Bangkok which struck a day after two bomb attacks targeted Israeli embassy staff in India and Georgia.

"The attempted attack in Bangkok proves once again that Iran and its proxies are continuing to act in the ways of terror and the latest attacks are an example of that," said Barak, who is currently in Singapore but spent several hours in the Thai capital on Sunday.

"Iran and Hezbollah are uninhibited sources of terror, they are a danger to the stability of the region and a danger to the stability of the world," he said, in remarks released by his Tel Aviv office.

Bangkok police said one man, believed to be an Iranian national, was seriously wounded when a device he was carrying exploded in one of a series of blasts in a residential area of the Thai capital.

An Iranian identity card was found next to the wounded man, whose legs were blown off.

The explosions came just 24 hours after two bombs targeted Israeli embassy personnel in India and Georgia, leaving one female diplomat critically wounded.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promptly blamed Iran, describing it as "the biggest exporter of terror in the world."

He also accused the Islamic republic of being responsible, along with Lebanon's Shiite militia Hezbollah, for a series of failed attacks against Israeli targets in Thailand and Azerbaijan in mid-January.
