First 1yr Extension Of Non-imm O

Featured Replies

I have a NON-IMM O visa issued in Singapore, single entry, 90 days.

I am over 50 and UK national

28 days before the expiration of my 90 days period of stay I went to Nan immigration office with the following :

1. Passport + signed copies of foto page, visa page, first entry stamp (within this visa's validity), last entry stamp

2. Signed copy of the TM-6 arrival/departure form

3. One foto ID

4. One filled in TM-7 form

5. Bank book and signed copies of all pages

6. Bank letter (original) stating balance of account (1 week previous to application date) of more than 800k baht

7. Copy of letter from Embassy stating my adress in Thailand

8. Medical certificate (3 days old)

8. Fee (1,900 baht)

No questions asked, received stamped passport with period of stay valid 365 days later than 1st entry (about 10 months from application for 1 year extension)

Was told would get a full year next application

Was also told that the Embassy letter's copy could be the same one every year from now on so I kept the original.

Took only 40 minutes including a multi re-entry (3.800 baht) and 2 certificates of residence (free)

Congratulations!

That certificate of residence, I wonder what purpose it is intended to serve. Does everybody on an annual extension get it?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

The common use for it is to get a driving license or to register a car .

A farang can use it in place of a Tapien Baan

I used them to apply for a motorbike and car driving licenses.

It is in Thai and makes things easy to 'prove' your name, nationality, immigration status and adress in Thailand.

....and to open a bank acount in your name, buy a car, telly, fridge or other goods on tick, get a post-paid mobile phone in your name.

........yes, it does get you Thai Prices for admission into dual priced venues. I use it every time I visit such (Government owned and run) places.
