Blasts Put Soi Nana Businesses on Edge

BANGKOK: -- Businesses at Soi Nana in Bangkok are now worrying that the bombing incident at Sukhumvit Soi 71 will affect tourism and ask officials to check the profiles of suspected foreigners travelling in and out Thailand carefully.

Businesses at Soi Nana in Bangkok expressed concern that the Bangkok triple blasts will affect tourism and the image of Thailand. However, they did note that their sales have not dropped after the incident.

With its various entertainment spots, Soi Nana is a destination which attracts a lot of tourists, particularly Middle Easterners. Business owners are now concerned and are monitoring the situation to keep themselves updated all the time. All of them are joining hands to be on the lookout for suspicious individuals as well.

However, the entrepreneurs are calling for related agencies to carefully scan and check foreigners travelling in and out of the country in order to avoid such attacks again.

Meanwhile, police are keeping a close watch on the Israeli Embassy, which is located at the Ocean Tower II Building in Sukhumvit Soi 19. The building's security guards have been checking every vehicle entering the building with scans of the trunk and underneath the body to make sure no bombs are sneaked inside.

Brass Houses asking to make sure that Border Officials check that people are not carrying explosives into the Country to commit acts of terrorism is the translation of the below, quite incredible.

They want people checked to see if they have any terrorism links, not to check if they are carrying explosives. Explosive checks are done before boarding a plane so there's no need to make the same checks again when people land in Thailand.

Under the passenger seat is still quite a safe place then. rolleyes.gif

You dont have to go south to buy the material, apparently it's all in Bangkok. A lot of bombs going off there and kilos of stuff found a few weeks ago. But there are no bombers/terrorists here to hurt the other Thai's and Westerners, these guys are only going to attach bombs to cars and no one else will get hurt when it goes off. Apart from that they are taught by an expert bomb maker? well they wernt paying attention in class as they blew a house to pieces when assembling a bomb and have no idea of how to throw a bomb, no legs.

But there are no Terrorists- Bomb makers- or anything for people to worry about, according to the Gov and TAT?

Is it not simple time to ban certain nationalities entering Thailand?

I am sure any decent terrorist would find a way round this - don't forget that the previous 'lebanese' terrorist was on a swedish passport and in the Al-Mabhouh assasination in Dubai a few years back they were using forged passports from other countries such as UK.

What a stupid racist comment. I, together with my equally blue eyed blond haired European friends are consistently asked to hand over any on board carrying toiletries exceeding the tiny amount (600 mm?) allowed to the bloody nazis at Thailand's premier gateway, Swampy. But hey! If it deters even a modicum of the overwhelmingly caucasian dross visiting Nana, all to the good.

"Soi Nana is a destination which attracts a lot of tourists, particularly Middle Easterners"

nobody of muslims is going to plant bombs where themselves and their cousins are partying.

there are as well many businesses owned by the muslims

Tell that to Shia Muslims in a Sunni state, or vice versa. Indeed try telling that to Ahmadi Muslims anywhere where there are other Muslim sects present.

'Certain nationalities' obviously refer to those from the Middle East, no? They are dark haired/eyed and, er, have Middle Eastern passports. Ergo, the disbarring of this entire culture waste of time as Caucasians are, and have been for some considerable time, subject to the same stringent 'anti-terrrrrorrrrrism' 'practices', ie right pain in the arse jumped up officials who unsmilingly bin your shaving foam, even though you are patently not of that colouring/nationality. So. What's your point?

Perhaps their edge is already off?

Was it the guy without a girl that was the ANGRY one?

My guess is that it is his girl taking the picture.

I do find it interesting that this working girl was taking pictures of their customers. It is usually the norm of the customer wanting to take pics. Not sure why the girl would want to memorialize her one night customer(s). Not like she deleted them after because she still had them when somehow immigration was able to track her down a couple days after the incident.

I also finding it odd the terrorists were allowing it ... especially being they are Muslim and knew their fate may be one of gaining world wide attention.

The more that comes out and the quickness of the info keeps coming out and the investigation progresses, it is seeming more and more suspicious that somebody was watching or keeping tabs on these guys beforehand.

Wasn't that the Israelis?

UK, Canada, Australia, etc. Not American though. Too close to home.....
