Libraries

Featured Replies

Any one any idea where there are any libaries in around BKK. I understand that maybe 99% books will be in Thai, but thats ok.

Any addresses would be good.

There are several foreign supported libraries that you should be able to find with a Google search.  Believe some of the Universities also provide public or restricted access.

There are not many libraries.  Today's Bangkok Post reports UNESCO report that the average reading of a Thai is eight lines per year and that the over 10 year old average is 3 minutes reading per year.

American University Alumni (AUA) http://www.auathailand.com/ has a library on Rajdamri Road, and the British have the Nielsen Hayes Library on Surawongse Road.  Both have fees.

If you are looking for dedicated business libraries a number of embassies have Chambers of Commerce that have libraries, the two that come to mind at the moment are the Japanese Jetro on Rajdamri Road and the American Chamber of Commerce in Diethelm Towers on Wireless (Withayu) Road.

Many universities have good libraries, like Chulalongkorn, Thammasat, etc.

There is a good public library (mostly in Thai) in CM, across the street from Kad Suan Keaw (Central Dept Store) and about 100 meters toward Computer Plaza.

I saw one add on the board on the entry to Villa market on Sukhumvit - it said that there is a good library somehwere on Soi 22 or 24.... I don't remember. never been there. plenty of stores to buy books - otherwise there are enough places to buy second hand books too ...
