webfact
Thaksin Addresses on Video Link to Red Shirts NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- The fugitive former Prime Minister said the government's work will become more obvious from March onwards. The fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra last night spoke from abroad via a video link, in which he addressed the red-shirt supporters who were gathered at Bonanza Khao Yai resort in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, saying that various projects would be launched from March onwards. In addition, he pledged that the government would become more efficient at solving problems. In response, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said many projects could be implemented beginning in March since the Parliament has already approved next year's budget. Moreover, the loan decrees authorize the Finance Ministry to borrow a huge sum of money. The premier reaffirmed that loan decrees are necessary for national rehabilitation. Additionally, the govenrment will administrate to finance flood prevention projects. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said constitutional amendments must be carried out simultaneously, insisting that the legislative branches will place importance on benefiting the public to achieve a peaceful society. Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut blasted back, saying that Thaksin aims to instigate people. He urged Thaksin to stop inciting the red shirts and using them as a means to escape his punishment. He said that Thaksin is trying to win the loyalty of the red shirts by giving them false hopes once he announces that the government will compensate the families of those who died in the political unrest, by giving them of 7.75 million baht per person within three months. Moreover, Chavanond pointed out that the red-shirts group has strong ties with the Nitirat group as it also collected signatures to seek an amendment to Article 112 of the Criminal Code, better known as the lese majeste law during its gathering yesterday. -- Tan Network 2012-02-

Misterwhisper
This megalomaniac has said over and over again that he wants to wash his hands off politics and that his biggest wish were national reconciliation. What does he think his regular video call-ins are? Fairy tale hour? If there is any obstacle to reconciliation, it is this megalomaniac with his super-ego who cannot and will not shut up. coma
Isn't this clown a wanted felon ??? How can the current government, or any government infact, be dealing with a convicted criminal? This guy needs to come to terms with the fact that he is never going to be in the top job ever, ever again. This is a total disgrace and a slap in the face for all those who have and/ or are spending time in jail for their crimes.

MEL1
The guys with the tools need to eavesdrop and record this maniac's phone calls. If proof were found that he instructed Yingluck to do anything, and she followed it through, then she would be ousted immediately, and this whole shambles of an organised red-shirt govenment would be disbanded once and for all! -mel. gemini81
So much for not being involved or meddling while abroad, as he said in interviews/live video feed last year and 2010. He can't keep his word. But most shocking is that many country bumpkins actually still believe him! Edited February 27, 2012 by gemini81
birdpooguava
There are a lot of dreamers posting here who won't face up to the fact that Thaksin is running the country in a far more effective manner than the Democrats did. The concrete results that his party are able to deliver make the Democrats look sick in comparison. We have already seen implementation of many of PTPs election promises, and at the same time drastic measures introduced to deal with the flooding problem, which the Democrats did absolutely nothing about. In the near future we will see the start of the tablet program and high speed rail along with many other policies to improve the lives of the Thai people. The sooner he returns to lead the country the better off the country will be. There will be the inevitable bleating and protests from the yellows, but now that the reds are well organised and highly mobile they will marginalize any attempt to create unrest. Once Thaksin has again proven himself to be by far the best leader available his misguided detractors will quickly diminish.

rubl
Don't know why this theNations article has minimal details on what k. Thaksin said during his phone-in. The other newspaper has much more, but I'm not allowed to quote from their section 'news' published 26/02/2012 02:11AM with amongst others political prisoners added to compensation scheme and THAKSIN: ALL 2010 RIOT VICTIMS WILL BE PAID.
