Pay the fine at the airport as you exit the country.

The maximum fine is 20,000 baht.

You won't be blacklisted, so can return to Thailand without a problem.

Stay away from cops, get to a border, pay the fine and you will be ok.

And for next time, renew your passport in time. No nations embassy takes over 70 days for a renewal.

How can anybody say with Authority that there will be no issues on any subsequent return ?? I would suggest that immigration can level any amount of difficulty and fine should they have reason to do so.

Try overstaying by 70 days in the UK and see if you can return with no problem.

Thailand is no exception and why should she be.

Is it not normally the case that your passport has a red overstay stamp inserted in it? and if you have one red stamp then the immigration will let you in?

I'm asking......not telling.

As far as posters to this forum never a problem coming back if issue is only overstay.

When presenting at the border with an overstay, it is just pay the fine and your passport gets a stamp in it about being on overstay. Currently that has no consequences regarding a new entry into Thailand.

should he go via plane or is land border ok?

"2nd best time to plant a tree is today." Sent from TV android app.

It is always recommend to leave by air as checks are often made near borders and if found by police in such a check could lead to arrest and court. Plus there is an issue if other country sees the overstay stamp and says we want no part of you and a return to Thailand in such a case could be illegal entry and deportation. This does not appear to be happening at present; but airport departure is safer.

Just wondering:

pages missing in your passport

how do you do that?

"What do you think about no entry stamp in the new passport and the canx Visa in the old passport / will the authorities want to see my old passport? Any more advice so much appreciated"

If you show them the old passport they'll see the permision to stay date and fine you.

If you don't show them the old passport they'll look on the computer, and fine you..

If they can't find you on the computer, they'll assume you're on overstay, and fine you.

A new passport will show them that you are here without permission to stay. Not something most officers haven't seen before.

I'd suggest getting this taken care of sooner than later. The longer you put it off, the better the chances of getting nabbed in a routine stop and found out.

Check the second or third page of this forum for the topic about the Swede recently sent to jail for overstay.

Good luck.

Let us know how this works out for you.

you take both passport to airport, you will pay the fine THB20,000.- and they transfer the old stamp to new passport.

So far no problem in returning to Thailand.

My old passport has enrty stamp and canx Visa, new passport has nil stamps etc

Thank you very for your advice and information, am I classed as more than an overstay as Visa canx and entry stamp in old damaged passport but still n Thailand?

I can verify that paying the fine as you leave will NOT affect future visits.

I have maxed out my overstay 3 times and had several minor overstays without incident - most recently maxed out 3 years ago.

I carried two max outs on my passport for years with no trouble.

If you were allowed entry it must have been for 15 days visa exempt? There must be some permitted to stay stamp in your passport. From that date onward you are overstay so if more than 45 days the fine will be 20,000 baht. Unless you have done something else illegal the overstay is all you have to account for.

Hi, my Visa was canx and I was told a new passport required and current one damaged - nil stamp added to passport other than canx of Visa

Does this mean at the border they should have issued a 15day exempt, they did not so does that now make things worse?

you are in Thailand on a damaged passport but with valid, but expired, entry stamp, 15days visa exempt?

Assume that you are in BKK, so it is best to leave by air.

As said earlier you take both passport, old and new, to Airport, pay your fine and Immigration will transfer stamp.

Immigration can not cancel your previous visa, unless you obtained it illegal, but this might be just a issue of different wording.

Damaged passport has 30day entry stamp (2011) into Thailand, thereafter visa run 15day (expired) then 90day visa obtained but when returning the Thai border stated damaged passport and canx visa....

Allowed in but Thai border stated I need new passport, met with UK official (representive) who advised new passport required, he could not understand how visa issued as passport damaged and how back in Thailand...

Passport applied for but probs obtaining, all resolved and new passport on route...

Now very concerned what to do, say and will happen etc

Any advise much appreciated

valid advise has been given to you already.

Fly out.

Take both, old and new, passport to airport and you will pay there your overstay.

At the same time they will transfer stamp from old passport to new passport and you are allowed to leave.

What is a "canx visa"?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Visa has been cancelled, do you think would be just an overstay problem?

Your visa was cancelled, but instead you got a visa exempt entry so did not illegally entered the country.

This is just an overstay issue, nothing else.

based on info OP provided it is just a overstay issue, which is serious enough if caught on the streets.

And for next time, renew your passport in time. No nations embassy takes over 70 days for a renewal.

It certainly happens, the official wait for an Irish passport renewal is 8-10 weeks, and that is if everything goes smoothly. I know, I had to get one recently and was shocked by how long it would take. Fortunately I had nine months validity left on my old passport.

Tourist2011

Do you have a "Departure" card clipped in your passport? If so, does it have a "permitted to stay xxx date" in it? Be handy if you have this item.

Mac

Base on your situation you are screwed. The new computer algorithms used by the Thai Customs to red flag visitors of overstays and red flags have now become an annoying pop up on their screens. I would try a neighboring country like Laos to sort out things with the Thai Embassy and trying to enter by those means. There's people their that can be of great assistance. ;).
