...so went to Immigration on Tuesday, packed. Mentioned that my 90 notification was up already. Was told too busy and to come back the next day. Wednesday morning, shut. Went back today and got myself a number ..crazy packed out, felt lucky to even get one.

Got seen, and told to pay 2000 baht late report fee. Said that i went on Tuesday and told to come back and yesterday was a holiday (spoke in Thai and also English, so no confusion). Told no, have to pay. Paid the officer. He stuck it straight in his top pocket right in front of me. Did my paperwork, with no stamp or reciept regarding the late report. Im guessing it wont go through any books, though i may be wrong. Although im glad of no extra stamps in my passport, and my fault for leaving my report till last minute, surprised at being charged, but im guessing it was more of a handy opportunity rather than an official charge.

Well anyway, just as a heads up, I arrived at 7:30am, and i got my name on the list, but already wayyyy down the line. Seems we need to get there EXTRA early at this time. Met a friend in there who arrived a little after 6am and he said people were there at that time already.

CM immigration seems to be getting busier and busier. I also usually find the staff to be very helpful, not prone to doing anything unhand. Surprised at what looks like a pocketed fee incident.

Well, gl to those who have to go in tomorrow. Many people were told to come back.

I went last week (Tuesday) got there 5.10 am and was no 3 on the list, got no1 spot for marriage visa extension, and was out by 9.40. Wife and daughter arrived 8.45 and we were seen promptly at 9.00. One side note... the 2 miserable old c*ws that normally do the marriage extension are not there at the moment... so no ritual humiliation this time :)

Sounds like you got a bum deal Eek. I thought we were allowed 7 days grace over the date.

Some people seem to think immigration officials are the bees knees, I happen to think otherwise.

I was there last week got in at 10 am and the machine was broken. I spoke to the guy at the desk and he said "33 numbers ahead of you" and gave me a number written in pencil. The numbers barely moved for about 20 minutes, but then all of a sudden, bang bang it was very fast and I was out at 11-15. I think if the people doing the 90 day reports just did that and there was a sign re-directing 'inquiries' to a particular person and they stopped chit chatting and popping off for a while, it wouldn't be so bad. I feel both sides are at fault.

Agree about the staggeringly large number of people there - I went with much trepidation on Monday PM and could barely get in the room. I was expecting the maximum fine as I was more than a month late (ouch!) but In the event they asked for 2000 baht and despite being so busy prepared all the receipts etc. My understanding is (or was) that up to 5 days late was a forgiveable offence though. I already booked my retirement extension renewal for December...

To be clear guys, tuesday was my last 7 day leeway. In that case, totally my fault for last minute. However, i did explain at the time, and was told not to worry, but today too busy and to come back. I had arrived early enough (so i thought) to get in, but was swamped. Then with wednesday being a holiday, i ended up being 9 days out. However, given the fact i was told to come back and that no paperwork was filled out for the fine, i feel a bit done over. Of course, no point in complaining, it is what it is. Next time i'll make sure not to leave it so late. Lesson learnt.

Lols. I know exactly what you mean.

I went in far too late one recent morning (10:00) for one of those 500 baht no-receipt letters of residence that only last for 30 days even if your lease proof and annual income proof (retirement) are good for 50 weeks and you need not report for 70 days. I'd filled everything out, brought photos etc. They took the material, said to return the next day (an inconvenience, given where I live). In the past, perhaps 5,500 baht's worth, I'd not even been given a number.

I did obey, of course, and the document was ready at 10 the next day. After presenting my passport I got the doc. immediately after I paid the regular 500 baht no-receipt fee. Still, I almost always deal with nice employees there, given the load of people they have to face every day. I mean, some applicants I've seen there at the counter must be Thai Visa posters! (None of us on this thread, of course, as we are savvy.)

No kidding! I remember them.

I am so glad to be in Ubon now. I'm almost always the only person at immigration.

Given the number of things that requires a person's physical presence in immigration, I am beyond confused as to why anyone would go there voluntarily (moreover, making the overcrowding problem worse) to do something that doesn't require their physical presence...

Then there would be little to complain about on TV -duh! wink.png

Not that i need explain myself, but there was a very good reason why i could not mail it in. That isnt the point. Those making digs in that direction or digs regarding complaining, if you re-read the opening post, it was in fact a heads up, not a complaint. The only thing that could be deemed as a complaint, if one was forced to analyse, is the officer pocking 2000 baht..which i believe was worth mentioning.

I think there is no thread on thaivisa, helpful or otherwise, that nit-pickers cannot nit-pick about!

Er..... pocketing, I think you mean. (Sorry)
