Just thought I would pass on a nice little thing. While flying from LAX to BKK with a layover in Taiwan for a few hours, I walked down the end of a terminal and saw three small and quaint prayer or contemplation rooms. Being partial to buddhism, I enjoyed it. I even borrowed one of the literature books and took it with me on my Thailand leg of the trip. Then on the return leg of the trip, again laying over for a few hours, I returned the little pamphlet. If there was a donation or drop box, I would have contributed. Nice little piece of serenity while on my way to Thailand. I do enjoy visiting the Wat Thai.

I hate everything about the TPE airport. It is definately the crappiest in Asia save for perhaps Manila (which is expected, its the Phillipines!). Glad you found some comfort and solace especially after a China Air or a China ______ flight.

TPE was OK- I've transfered there a dozen times. Can't get their WiFi to work though. I even went to the girl at the help kiosk and she couldn't figure it out either. The little stand of airport computers accross from there work but won't surf. Disabled at every corner. All kinds of networks. Just can't connect to any of them in that entire airport. Does anybody know a particular food or coffee stand that works maybe?

I will admit I can't rave about TPE. it is just big and simple with a lot of shops. The food courts I tried have not impressed me much. The free computers usually have lots of connection problems or are really slow, but they are free, and they do work for quickly checking emails or something like that. For a 2 hour layover, it is fine. I haven't flown China Air for a while. Last several trips have been on EVA. That business/elite class of seating is a good deal in my opinion. A few hundred more USD for a big seat, not much worries about elbow room. The best thing is checking in at LAX at the start of the trip or checking in at BKK at the start of the return trip. Walk right up to the Elite class ticket counter window. Never had more than one or two people ahead of me. Trivial check in time. Can't imagine waiting in the coach line with a lot of luggage. I only bring one carry on, and waiting in a long queue for just that would frustrate me. Elite class gets the vacation off to a good positive start.

Cash is ready, 401-k is done for the year, cash flow from investments is ready. If this contract ends, well, won't be but a few days before I headito the LOS for trip number 14 I think it is now.
