We'Ve Seen Bad Driving But This.......

Featured Replies

I do not mean to offend the drivers concerned, but this takes the biscuit.

In Central, car park 2,last Thursday I think, a white Fortuner and a saloon were heavily involved

in an expensive shunt, both cars seriously damaged.

In a car park?

How in the name of Plonker can this have happened.

I admit to a loud laugh.

Are we safe in there anymore?

Let me guess - one was reversing out of a parking spot and the other was travelling too quickly to stop?

Doesn't take much for a minor crash/shunt to look bad. Cars are designed now to fold on first impact.

Rush hour Bangkok, I was in a multi-storey car park looking for a space.

A girl tried to over-take me and hit the side of my car, insisted it was my fault and threatened me with the police !!... I couldn’t believe the stupidity to attempt this manoeuvre in the first place, then the audacity to blame me followed by the shear wickedness to make a threat… (No biggie, I have friends too!)…

The driving and lack of accountability in Thailand often dumfounds me…

My mate was parked and hit by a Thai fella in a car park, and as seems standard in the LOS, the Thai boy blamed my mate. Luckily the entire incident was captured on CCTV and when the insurance companies arrived, the Thai boy was clearly to blame. Believe it or not the Thai boy then apologised and admitted he was wrong. Better late than never.

It must be a face thing. A Thai woman driving (wrong side of road) fully in my lane (cutting a curve) left me nowhere to go and ran into me. She was rude, aggressive and insisted it was my fault - even calling her police friend to attend the scene (asking for/speaking to him by name). Fortunately, there were too many witnesses and even her policeman mate was forced to agree that it was she who was in the wrong.

You're right, I don't believe you. I've never, ever heard a Thai apologize to a farang for anything.

I once encountered a similar scenario. I gave way to 2 cars that were having to bypass a parked car in their lane. After they passed me I proceeded, only to find that some hi so wannabe was now in front of me expecting me to back up because I was a ferang & therefore SHE had right of way! "Face" resulted in lots of shouting & screaming (& threats) but I couldn't move because others had followed me & I suspect they told her to F*** off in her own language:)

I now have a black box type recording device in front of my rear view mirror:)

Where can I get one?

You are wrong. I have had 5 minor accidents with other vehicles one of which was my fault. 2 were with motorbikes, a farang who immediately apologised & paid for the damage, the other a Thai who did not apologise & tried to blame me but the insurance guy gave him a short shift. Another was with a sidecar & the Thai guy immediately said sorry & even offered use of an old family car while mine was being repaired. On Monday a mini bus scraped all down the side of his vehicle & the front right of mine simply because he did not look. He said sorry straight away as did his mate & his insurance guy who turned up shortly after. GF even apologises on occasion.

I agree with Valentine. And at risk of generalising, it seems the hi-so's and wannabe hi-so's are the the ones most likely to give you problems.

I could also use a black box device are they easily available in Thailand?

Some interesting car or bike-mounted gadgets applicable to this thread:)
