Do any members have an ICD fitted and how do you make allowances for it while either living in Thailand or visiting Thailand for long periods of time. Due to suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy I have been advised that it may be worthwhile having an ICD fitted. However I have not agreed yet as I do not have any abnormal rhythms. I have agreed to under go an electrophysiology study which will help me decide.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Yes my uncle has an ICD fitted in his heart. It is a very small battery powered electrical impulse generator device that is implanted in patients having risks of sudden cardiac death due to abnormal heart rhythms such as ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Cardiac arrest can occur at any time and at any place so I think you should take suggestion from your doctor. ICD can automatically detect cardiac arrhythmia and give electric shock when required.
