Hi people...

When I come to Thailand I did it with a six months ticket return. I come here in Februray and my ticket to return to my country is dated in August, Ok?

So now, at the end of April my visa ends and I have to go out of the country and entry again with a new visa and spend two months and take a plane to my country in August.

So, what´s going to happen when I leave the country at the end of April. In my visa ther´s a paper where is written the flight number I have to take (but it´s the August´s one).

Do you think I´ll have any problem in the airport with that?

Have you underestood "my problem" :) I know my english is quite bad.

Thank you.

Your post is a bit difficult to understand.

  1. What is your nationality? This will tell us if you are entitled to visa-exempt entries.
  2. Before flying to Thailand, did you get a visa from a Thai embassy or consulate? If yes, what category of visa? You do not say on what date in February you arrived in Thailand and on what date in April your permission to stay expires.
  3. What do you mean with "In my visa ther´s a paper where is written the flight number I have to take (but it´s the August´s one)"? Here, I can hazard a guess. I think you are referring to the departure card stapled in your passport. This is not your visa. In fact, on arrival it is not necessary to indicate the return flight number on the departure card and the fact that you wrote it down is no problem. Anyway, the flight number is not tied to a particular date. A flight with this number may be leaving Bangkok daily or weekly.

It sounds like you got a double entry tourist visa - entered end of feb and have an "admitted until" date end of April, am I right so far?

If that's the case you don't need to exit Thailand (yet). You just need to go and get a 30 day extension from Immigration for 1,900 baht.

At the end of MAY, then, you'd need to do a "border run" to activate your 2nd entry (60 days) which takes you to end July. Then another 30 day extension from immigration to take you to August and your flight home...

Hey, thanks for answering even if you don´t understand well my question. You are great :)

Ok, let´ s try again...

I´m spanish and I have a 2 months tourist visa with one month more. My visa expires at the end of April.

When I arrived in Thailand I had to fill a departure card (I got it know in my hand) and write in it my name and the number flight of my departure. This departure card is attached to my visa in my passport

The problem (maybe it is not a problem) is that the date of my departure is in August, but I first have to leave the country at the end of April and asf for a new visa to come back again and leave for the last time in August in that flight that is attached now in my visa.

Do you think that at the end of April, in the airport, I could have any trouble with this?

:) Thank you again.

You will have no trouble. The flight you have written on the departure card? - just change it, you don't need to even fill that in until you leave. You'll get a new one when you leave and return in April.

Last question first. No your departure card won't give you any problem they'll just check to see if you've overstayed, then stamp you out. They'll take the departure card as part of the procedure, but probably won't even read it.

From your first sentence it sounds like you have a single entry - and arrived end of Feb, got 60 days to the end of April? If that is the case you can still get an extra 30 days if you wish, by simply visiting immigration for an extension. Then you will not need to leave until the end of May, when you will need to go somewhere for another visa.

Thanks again everybody, now it´s all clear :)

The airport and the day of taking the plane to go home is the only place and time I don´t want to have problems with inmigration people :)

Bobl, I went las week to Mae Sai to have the extension for the visa, and it finish the 28 of April.

Thanks again... I´ll be back, sure :)

PielLin, be careful not to confuse "visa" with "permission to stay". At this stage, there are two dates you have to watch:

  1. the expiration date of the visa which you got from the Thai consulate
  2. the expiration date of the permission to stay shown on the extension stamp

Another important point is whether your tourist visa (from the Thai consulate) is valid for one entry or for two entries. Look at it and tell us, and give us the above two dates. Then we can give you specific advice what to do until your scheduled flight date in August. Incidentally, what is that date?

Regarding the departure card stapled in your passport: you must use that card on your exit from Thailand in April. Just strike out the flight number that you wrote on it. You cannot keep that card until you leave by plane in August. Just strike out the flight number that you wrote on it. When you leave Thailand in April and come back again, you receive a new arrival card and the new departure card will be stapled in your passport.
