Chalerm could certainly do with some prescribed medications. A very large dose of Haldol would do for starters.

Draino would be better.

Advocating the poisoning of Thai officials is a criminal offense under Thai law.

Another example of over the top hyperbole used by some foreigners and why Thai officials will not waste time with them.

Your post should not be on here because it advocates violence against a Thai official. You should know better.

One can disagree with a government position, but advocating the poisoning of government officials is not appropriate.

Hell, Chalerm could start with those thugs his son..... SOBS

Funny how he has a selective memory when it comes down to his own spawn.

This gets more and more crazy by the day,how on earth is someone supposed to get an appeal together, and a court hearing in 15 days,

and if you can't raise the money to pay your lawyer, your f******

Perhaps he would rather have some more extra Judicial killings, and save the expense of an appeal?

This is getting more and more like Captain Blackadder's trial every day!

Looks funny! Downloading now. Hey, that's Dr. House.

At the same time he tries every trick in the book to delay prison term for the biggest of all criminals.

But that's no double standard, that's simply Red Shirt logic.

He can start by executing the three police caught this week.

They were fired, but were they charged? :-)

.. or transfered to an inactive post? The most sever punishment know for policemen.

Posted

So what happens when a policeman searches you, plants drugs on you, andd then finds them?

Well you'd better make sure you've got your 15 day visa or you really are in trouble.

This is just Chalerm playing politics, he knows full well passing a law to execute a convicted dealer in 15 days is impossible- it merely looks good to the Thai public who always regard serious action against drug dealers as impressive.

As he has said several times, before the government can move onto the agenda to absolve Thaksin, they must have some achievements and his will be drug suppression. Of course the big fish are not being caught, but for Chalerm it's all about public perception- action man is doing his best to cut out the cancerous scourge of drugs from Thai society.

Deputy PM Firm on Rushing Execution of Drug Convicts

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung is pushing forward the bill which would expedite the execution of drug convicts on death row within 15 days if the verdicts are upheld by the Appeals Court.

Meanwhile, the police has made a major drug bust by seizing more than one million methamphetamine pills and 20 kilograms of crystal meth.

The Bangkok police seized more than one million methamphetamine pills and 20 kilograms of crystal meth in a raid at a house in Pathum Thani Province.

The bust took place after the arrest of a major drug dealer who informed the police that a large drug shipment has been transported from the northern part of the country to be stored at the house.

Police said the shipment belonged to the drug ring headed by Supawat Khonthong, a major drug figure, and was intended to be distributed to small-time dealers. Supawat and his gang fled the scene during the raid.

There are also other suspects with different roles in the drug operation, ranging from transportation to money laundering and making contact with buyers.

The police have also confiscated assets believed to be bought with drug money, consisting of two houses in Lamlukka District, 14 cars, two motorcycles, two shotguns and 20 bank books.

The arrested suspect is being charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Law enforcement authorities believe that there are additional suspects in Phitsanulok and Kamphaengphet provinces

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung has reiterated his intention to introduce an anti-narcotics bill which would expedite the execution of drug convicts on death row within 15 days after the verdict is upheld by the Appeals Court.

Chalerm has shrugged off protest from human rights organizations, claiming that narcotics poses harm to the nation.

This insane war on drugs is a waste of human lives and public money.

The most logical would be to legalize all drugs. Even some US Republicans are starting to get this idea.

Although yaba is a hell of a drug, you might as well legalize it. All drugs in fact. All the criminality will disappear.

Not saying it should be a free for all. You can still have restrictions. Not under 18, only sell between 11-14 and 17-midnight etc.

Sadly, drugs will never be legalized in this country. Too many people are making boatloads of money out of it.

edit: Just though of something. Calling for the repeal of drug laws could be construed as LM.

Maybe that's why Big brother wants to come down so hard on this issue, via his glove puppet. If the 'clan' were also to control the supply and distribution of drugs then imagine the revenue stream that would produce.

The Thai people voted for this. If they didn't know they were voting for this kind of thing, sadly, they only have themselves to blame. Where are the voices of red shirt/Thaksinista apologists now? Predictably silent. Edited by Jingthing

Narcotics do pose harm to any nation but for some reason international human rights organisations don't trust Third World government controlled police forces.

Quite!

The problem is Jingthing that all the Redshirts hear is the spouting off of intent "I am going to execute drugs runners in 15 days". That is all they want to hear, they suffer from selective hearing as it is. All Chalerm needs to do is mouth off, he doesn't even have to deliver. He just loves the spotlight. The apologists are the same.

If Thailand was a modern progressive country, Chalerm would be minus the company of one son now for the next 40 years. It could get really scary. Imagine Chalerm and Thaksin holding a PM and Presidential slot!!!! We are now entering...The Twilight Zone!

15 days? This is just pure insanity.

Can we hold him responsible, personally, if there is ever someone executed that should not have been?

Then he has ordered their murder, plain and simple.

In fairness, it's fifteen days after the Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence, NOT fifteen days after initial sentencing.

As an anti-death penalty advocate, it's still appalling, but it's important to understand what he is proposing before debating it meaningfully.

WOW so now if a cop wants someone dead all they need to do is plant some dope on you and 2 weeks later adios?

I respect the death penelty in the Philipines, Malaysia etc. and if you can't do the time don't do the crime and all that however the cuff-em-kill-em scenario seems a little unjust to say the least.

Most countries Justice is represented iconoly with a set of scales suggesting balance however this guys icon is gonna just be a grave stone.

I wonder why he doesn't say the same thing about sons who get off scot-free for clear cases of murder when witnesses are intimidated.

How many more times do I need to point out that the proposal is NOT to execute drug runners within ffiteen days or sentence? Can nobody read plain English.

The article clearly states that the intention is to carry out sentence of death within fifteen days of the Court of Appeal rejecting the prisoners appeal and upholding the original court's sentence.

Why is that so hard for people to read?

Furthermore, the Philippines abolished the death penalty years ago.

You seem quite intellegent.

Yes. Even the legislature of Colombia is considering legalizing drugs.

I do not know if you've ever lost a family member to drugs, but I can assure you that making drugs legal and more accessible won't help soften the blow. Whether you are watching a slow downward spiral to death, or going to identify a body at a morgue, the notion of having more drugs rather than less would seem a kind of evil.

Sorry, back on topic...

I'm not an advocate of the death penalty, but the fact that it already exists here only means that the DPM is only expediting "due process".

Makes me wonder what the real agenda is here.
