Coming To Bkk From Korea

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm currently in Korea but I am about to have my visa revoked!

I was reliably informed (by a doctor and various websites on the matter) that having tried cannabis once in Amsterdam last September (first and last time, methinks. So very, very sick...) would not cause me to fail the mandatory drug test here as it would've been well out of system before the end of 2011. It seems this is not the case as I've just had my contract terminated for failing the test twice this month!

Not good.

I was thinking of making a quick move to Bangkok as I've always wanted to visit Thailand and the school year is starting soon and I'm still good for £4,300/US$6,900.

There are a few points I'd like to see if you guys can confirm for me -

***I'll need a return ticket even though I won't be coming back to satisfy the Thai authorities, right?

***I'll be given a 30 day entry permit as I arrive because I'm a UK citizen, yeah? This should cover me to the beginning of the school year but is there any way to get it changed to a 60 or 90 visa while in BKK? I'd rather get that arranged than take any risks but don't have time to apply for a Tourist Visa.

Will I be able to do a Visa run while on my entry permit, perhaps? Or is entering via a neighbouring country a good idea for that?

***Any other general advice for someone entering Thailand on such short notice? I excpect to be arriving by Monday...

Thanks,

Ed

You do not need a return ticket but a ticket within 30 days to anywhere you are allowed travel - perhaps KL in Malaysia would be a good option as not too expensive and you can use to obtain a visa for return entry.

Ah, yes. I just need to show I'm moving on, right?

Thanks, that's very useful. Now i just need to figure out how to get my visa arranged in KL. Thanks again!

Ed, why not fly straight to KL with your onward trip to Thailand.

When in KL get yourself to the Thai Embassy and get a double entry tourist visa. That will give you nearly 6 months in Thailand to sort yourself out.

How 6 months ? each entry is 60 days, each one can then be extended within Thailand by 30 days so you have 60 + 30 then border run then another 60 & 30 days.

For future reference, without a Visa you would get 30 days arriving by air and 15 days arriving via land border, these are visa exempt entries.

Good Luck.
